There is no known test for men - other than having a urologist look at a suspicious growth. It is highly common and, if treated quickly and properly, can be cleared by the body's immune system.

There is no test to detect HPV in men. Most men find out they have HPV by developing genital warts from it, but, not everyone with HPV develops warts.
HPV is usually detected in women by having an abnormal pap smear. A colposcopy or biopsy is done to determine if HPV is the cause of the abnormal pap smear and to determine if it is something serious like pre-cancerous cells or cervical cancer.
If a woman doesn't get her pap smears done then HPV can go undetected for years. And, unless a woman asks, it's usually not tested for.
Since HPV has so few signs and symptoms most people don't realize they even have the virus and go years (and sometimes forever) without realizing they have it.
Take care!

This is true. You have to request it. But usually girls that have HPV will also have an abnormal pap smear showing abnormal cells. Then yes they will test for HPV. As for men there is no test. A man will never know he has it unless he develops a genital wart, and not all strains of HPV cause genital warts. It does increase the risk of cancer.
