Usually a person has their first outbreak of genital herpes anywhere from 2 - 20 days after being infected with the virus.

However, EVERYONE is different. It can take several months and even years for some people to have their first outbreak after becoming infected with the virus.

I personally experienced my first outbreak about 10 days after I became infected with genital herpes.

Take care!

About 2 weeks. If it's your first outbreak then be looking for there to be pain the back of your thighs and maybe even flu like symptoms. The first outbreak is usually the worst. Keep checking yourself down there daily with a mirror to see if there are any sores coming up. Remember that condoms do not prevent the spread of herpes because the infection could be on an area that is not covered by the latex. You will need to take other precautions if you plan to have sex with this partner again. My friend and my sister were dating. He had herpes and she didn't. He had dated another woman for 10 years and they prevented her from getting it by not having sex when he was broken out. 4 weeks after he started dating my sister she broke out with it even though they took the same precautions. I tried to warn her but she didn't listen. Good luck, hope you don't have it.

u would have flu like symptoms, it depends on how strong your immune system is. i have herpes and this is how it was for me, first i had these symptoms for maybe 2-3 days then i was really itchy down there. then i noticed some swelling and then blisters. i was in pain and very itchy for about a week. unless u take meds the outbreaks will last longer. if u experience blisters or open sores down there go to a doctor and get a swab test done for herpes.

It really varies from person to person. I didn't have symptoms until about a month or two after being exposed to it. I did get flu-like symptoms, but it wasn't until after I found bumps...
