Its just not in some peoples thought at all.

Many people believe there are all sorts of "reasons" to eat meat including taste, canine teeth, frontal eyes, the bible (!! ), veggie food is expensive ( how can vegetables be considered expensive ? )

To be honest, the majority of people see animals as sub-species and its never crossed thier minds if its right or wrong, they don't queastion it. They do what the rest of culture does, just liek most other aspects of culture such as working, studying, eating 3 times a day...we do what those around us do.

I've considered vegetarianism and I do eat a lot of meals that do NOT include meat. I think vegetarianism is healthy and I don't know if I could really actually go myself and kill an animal for food - however, I actually really do like to eat meat from time to time...especially fish. It's a common thought that non-vegetarians just eat a mainly "meat and potatoes" type diet and that's not true for everyone. I also enjoy cooking with animal proteins and well as vegetable proteins. So I just decided that I would eat a balanced non-vegetarian diet. Sometimes my protein is beef or lamb and other times my protein is tofu or beans...it's all yummy and healthy to me as long as it's well-balanced.

Other than not being able to give up bacon...........it's difficult to get the right combination of ingredients so that your body can absorb the protein that it needs. (It's even more difficult as a vegan.) While you can get some protein from cheese--it's loaded with salt and fat, so it's not a good choice as a primary protein. The bean, rice and nut combination a good source of alternative proteins, but they must be eaten together in order for your body to absorb the nutrients present in all of these foods, which it cannot do when they are eaten alone. I don't like these three groups together enough to have them be in a meal each day.

I also do not like Tofu--the other choice for vegetarians--I prefer my foods to be closer to whole foods--not a processed food form--which tofu is.

7 reasons:

1) I LURVE cheese entirely too much
2) I LURVE steak and cheese omelets entirely too much
3) I do need a lot of protein. I work out hard 6x a week. Do you expect me to function on chickpeas and tofu when I have a high metabolism and weigh 136 soaking wet at 5'10??

4) Vegan crap is hella expensive for NO reason
5) Why?
6) Bison steak is a thing I could never give up
7) I tried being a veg head, and I failed miserably in only 2-3 weeks. I became anemic and I had no energy, and I was a chronic grouch until I added meat again. (PS: don't try me with that detox and addiction line. It's bollocks. Maybe you don't need meat, but I do. I'm comfortable with you seeing me as sub-human, because I see ya'll as mentally impared).

I harvest deer and turkeys in the fall. The venison I put in my freezer helps alleviate my grocery bill. My fiancee and I still eat a lot of vegetables, but we're not strictly eating vegetables. Besides, her father raises beef and my best friend raises hogs. We get above-quality meats for less than it is in the store, and without the hormones and risk of ecoli.

I was a vegetarian for 15 years, and due to anemia and digestive problems (I can no longer digest peanuts, soy, nuts, or certain greens) I had to start eating chicken so I don't collapse in a heap on the floor lol. My main reason for being one was always that I don't like how meat feels when I am chewing it in my mouth... I always thought (and still think of) human flesh when I have to eat it.

Ugh I can't stand vegetables except for a small few. I like fruit better. But I eat meats for the protein and the different ways you can cook it. Vegetable recipes just seem to be so limiting to me...this is my own opinion.

Because we are designed to be omnivores. The best reason of all is that we need the nutrients (not just protein) that come from ALL TYPES of foods.

Meat comes with more than just protein. It's one of our primary sources of iron, and is significant in providing us with the fats that we need in order for our bodies to flourish. If you're complaining that most of us don't need fats, allow me to remind you that our cell walls are built with fat, and without reasonable amounts in our systems, our bodies will fail...Internal organs will stop functioning, even skin will thin out and tear easily without the right amount of fats in one's system.

Obviously, there are other ways to get these nutrients, but most experts will tell you that the best way for us humans to get all of the nutrients we need is to eat a little bit of every type of food.

I have to add that meat tastes good. This is the same reason I haven't given up candy, so I don't see why that's not a viable answer.

Because no matter how I pair them to complete the protein veggie proteins do not agree with my body. With the use of more than 1 veggie protein a day I become sluggish, gain weight, and my blood sugar is terrible, I become more depressed from the sedative effects of starchy foods and am not a pleasant person to be around. I am just unhealthy when I eat vegetarian even if I do it the correct way and am much healthier when I eat lean protein, lots of fruits and veggies and very limited starches b/c that is how my body functions.

For some people it has to do with growing up in certain places and some people just know disease is not always caused by just meat because you can be vegetarian and still get diseases like cancer it is how you take care of things and they like to eat stuff like that. No one is the same and it is all a choice. Some people just like it and like myself see no problem with it on certain things as long as i have a balanced diet but certain things cannot be eaten.
