Erin don't be such a prude. He's 14, of course he likes girls. I mean, he really likes the buffalo wings at hooters (wink, wink). It's harmless fun and indulges the raging hormones of a teenage kid. Hey dad, can I get an invite? ;o) I say why not? It's his birthday let him do what he wants to. At least you know where he is and what he is doing.

Yeah, sure. Just don't forget to get him some blow and hire a prostitute for him. What does his mother think? Think about this: he's 14, which means it takes virtually nothing for him to get hot and bothered. Why not take him to a place where he can see sexy women who can't legally have sex with him- it's like putting a juicy steak in front of him that he's not allowed to eat. Then there's the whole issue of teaching your son to objectify women, or the double-standard of doing so yet officially denying it. Besides, what parent in their right mind is going to let their kid go with your son to Hooter's? Are you going to sneak them in? You know that the parents would find out soon enough and get all over your case. So unless your son's friends have loony parents he'll be going alone with you. I'd say wait 'til he's 18 or 21, and take him to a club full of naked skanks and get him a lap dance.

Is it a party with just his parents and siblings or a bunch or classmates? If it is the latter, what would the other parents think? If they are fine with it, I'd say go for it. I'm sure that seeing scantily-clad women is one of the milder things that your son has seen at his age. Wanting a party a Hooters is not such a bad thing. Just a teenage boy being a teenage boy.

I can see why a 14 yr old boy wants to go there. :) Take him for his Birthday if he wants. But I wouldn't invite friends of his for a party. I took my husband there for his Birthday. They made him stand in the middle of the room, bend over and shake his tail feathers while they sang Happy Birthday to him.
Funny for a 30 yr old, mortifying for a 14 yr old.

well....it depends

I am a good natured mom myself. In the end u know your son best. Think about what u might be teaching him by going. On one hand u are saying u have a good sense of humor and u trust him to make good choices. One the other hand perhaps u are encouraging womanizing behaviors and earlier sexual action....

If not hooters...pick somewhere else he has always wanted to go so he is not disappointed.

I think that is a horrible idea. Please do not allow that.

Impromptu - I am not being a prude. Unless of course you are fine with how the majority of the youth act these days? I have two younger sisters around that age, I see the emotional driven-over horny boys that hang out with them. You must be the guy who thinks it's ok for these young kids to post provocative pictures on their myspace? Listen, we all know why he wants to go to Hooters, why should his mom condone that? He's a growing kid, let him get his thrills in private and without his family there watching. What's next, buying porn? Obviously, I am exaggerating but where's the line here? If it was a 17 year old boy...you might have a point. But 14? Yay.

I used to work at Hooters. nothing wrong with going there. if taking friends check with the parents though. they don't flash their boobs in your face or anything! you can get his picture taken with all the girls, he'd love that! buy him a Tshirt for all the girls to sign, they'll sing him a little song and make him hula hoop or something. Perfect for a 14 year old boy! he probly sees way worse on MTV or Desperate Housewives!

I think that at 14, he is still a little young for that. Maybe at 16, he would be more mature and able to have a good time, but at 14, he would probably just be embarrassed. You know your son, what do you think?
