Hi! I have always wanted to become a vegetarian, I am a huge animal lover. I never made the change, and I want to know that I am starting a family of my own. I would love to set a god example for my children. I always let life get in the way when it was just me and my husband. We ate whatever is quick and easy (and my husband loves to grill), so that usually meant meat based meals, or junk food. Does anyone know of some good Vegetarian cookbooks? (easy to cook, I am a very unexperienced cook). And maybe some Vegetarian grill recipes? What is a good way for me to incorporation this adjustment into the life of a couple with poor eating habits?

lets all just ignore omfgska's response. She sounds like such a wonderful person, HA! Don't you just love people who have the time to respond to questions that they shouldn't even be reading if they do not have any proper responses to the questions. HA! Thank you omfgska for such a positive response, blah!

If you and your husband like meat, it's probably because you like hearty foods. Check out "The Vegetarian Meat and Potatoes Cookbook" by Robin Robertson. "Conveniently Vegan" by Debra Wasserman is a book of really simple recipes made of foods you probably have on hand or can easily get. However, none really have grilling recipes.

If you all like to grill, you can grill veggie burgers, various analogues, and marinated vegetables. I have a grill pan and it's pretty good for grilling marinated tempeh (an Indonesian food made of fermented soybeans). If you learn to make your own seitan (wheat gluten), you can cut it into chops, marinate it, and grill it.

You could try Googling "vegetarian grilling" for ideas. Sadly, I live in a small apartment and can't do more grilling than the George Foreman or the grill pan.

And check out www.vegweb.com for more ideas.

Try vegetarian sushi! I like putting in pickled beetroot, cucumber, tofu, avocado. Also Couscous is a good base for veggie food if you want to get away from the potatoes-veg-meatreplacer dinners. grilled vegetables go very well with couscous! You should have a look online for veggie recipes, there are so many out there that you don't even need a veggie cookbook!

I have been a vegetarian for 2 years now and I highly suggest Delia Smith's vegetarian cookbook, it has easy and tasty dishes to suit everyone =)
Also some cheeses, wine and sweets [i.e wine gums] are not vegetarian friendly but there are always hundreds of other options.
If you do like your meat I also really recommend Quorn, it's a meat substitute, is similar to the taste of meat but is without the animal.
Quorn do many products including Quorn nuggets, sandwich fillers, cottage pie, Mexican wraps, and many many more and best of all they're found in most supermarkets.

I hope this helped and I wish you luck!

The only way anybody could actually be vegan is if they grow and proudce their own food. Did you know that the plows that tend to grain fields run over and murder tons and tons of woodland critters? So every time oyu eat a piece of bread, you'll be nibbling on little traces of bunny blood. And I doubt you're a very educated vegetarian, because none of them are. Here are just a few of the thigns you probably use that harm animals:
Toothpaste, film( contains gelatine), certain hairbrushes, yogurt, chewing gum, gummy candies such as gummy bears or gummy worms, cheese (contains rennet, which is derived from the stomach of dead baby cows), most gravy, perfume or cologne, and much much more.

So sit there and tlel yourself that you're a wonderful person for helping the animals, but in reality, you're murdering and devouring them every day. Nice job.

I'm not a vegetarian. I eat meat every day and I LOVE IT. There's somethign about pressing your teeth into a nice juicy slab of cow that really puts me in a good mood. I hate vegetarians like you because you think you're better than people who eat meat, but you really kill animals just like the rest of us. You are a hypocrite, my friend. So instead of being a hypocrit, join the rest of us and stuff a piece of serloin in your mouth.
