When i was younger, i used to love eating meat, chicken, and even fish. But for some reason, a while after my parents and i moved, i just started getting extremely nauseous when i smelled fish. So, after a while, i stopped eating it completely.. A year or so after that, the same thing happened again.. but this time, it was with meat. So, i just stopped eating meat. Two years after that, i had to stop eating chicken too. Ever since, i haven't been able to be anywhere around meat, fish, or poultry of any kind. I've been a vegetarian for about three and a half years or so, and i'd like to know why my body just suddenly started rejecting the foods i used to love. I mean, now it's gotten to the point where i can't even see a picture of meat or hear anything about people eating it without wanting to throw up. My parents have tried to get me to eat meat and chicken, but when i tried to eat just a little piece of chicken, the instant i had swallowed it, i immediately threw up. Any help here?

I'm just curious, because right now, i'm fine with my lifestyle. It actually makes me feel a lot better. And as for if i saw or heard something as a child, that would be a no. I have never really had anything disgust me.. It was just something that started to happen to my body, and that just so happened to be rejecting meat, poultry, and fish.

No, i do not have a eating disorder, and in fact, my doctor has told me i'm actually a pretty healthy person. I exercise, i have a good and balanced diet, i'm just curious as to why it happened in the first place?

You have some negative mental connection. If you don't miss eating meat, why worry about it?

That sounds like my story. I never liked fish much and always hated the smell. I used to love other meat products. But after I turned 30, my body started reacting very negatively when I ate cows' flesh--steaks or burgers. I phased that out until the only meat I ate was of birds. I sometimes had similar intestinal distress when I ate chicken. Then one day, I was just so disgusted with these wings I was eating, I decided then and there to go vegetarian.

That was almost six years ago. I went vegan a few months later and have never looked back. So I can't tell you exactly why, but I can empathize and assure you that you're not alone. I'm guessing this happened when you were younger, so I don't know what to say. All I can think of is your body changed and no longer tolerates meat.

Hello, Well the same thing is happening to my son. I haven't gone into any research yet to find out WHY he is suddenly so adverse to meat, poultry and fish. Now it is happening with milk, only it is acting more like an allergy to dairy!
I know he won't eat eggs any more because of teh way eggs are farmed, the same with some dairy products.
But this is an interesting question I'd like to see answered also, I will be checking back and doing a little research myself to see if I CAN FIND an answer to this little mystery!
I do know it is healthy for all of us to limit the intake of red meats, and since out son has become vegan, our whole family is eating more healthy! So what ever the reason, if you agree with it, and your body does, GO FOR IT, AND GREAT! I applaud anyone who can can such a HUGE change of life style, and stick to it, it takes courage, and will power!
You must be a STRONG WILLED person, and a healthier one at that!!

I love meat, and am a meat eater. I couldn't immagine living without it. however, the experience you describe has happend to me with tuna fish. I used to eat tuna when I was a kid, now, I get nausiated when I eat it, and cant stand the smell of it. Fortuantley for me, it hasn't gotten to the point where my rejection of tuna has gone over to rejecting other meat.
I dont miss tuna cause I get along with other meats.
I would recomend trying a meat that you haven't tried for a while and see what happens. One of my favorites is a good rack of bar-b-q baby back pork ribs. The best meat on the plannet. If you reject that, than you probally just have something wrong in your body that keeps you from eating meat. If not, slowly add other things
good luck, from a meat loving man

Have you tried to remember if something happened to you as a child or if you saw something that has made you react this way? That's the only thing I can think of.

Are you asking because you are curious to know why this is happening or because you want to like and eat meat??

Edit:

Well then since you are happier now and just curious you should be grateful that this happened to you and you are now a healthier happier person! I have no idea why this happened to you but aren't you glad it did?! :)

You have a very smart body! Maybe you are the next step in evolution. We know our bodies don't like eating animal products. It's why it can make people develop some really awful diseases. We know that eliminating animal products from our diet can help us to lead longer, healthier lives and that animal products are in NO WAY necessary in today's day and age to live and probably do more harm than good. I imgine that, just like Nature kills off cannibals who eat the flesh of their kind (see made cow disease), it would eventually get to the point where humansd would develop more severe aversions to the unhealthy practice of eating animal products. Maybe that's why there's more vegans now than ever before, too; maybe people are more open to the idea than ever before because their bodies are whispering to them to do what's right on a scale much larger than ever before. Heck, we may be witnessing the middle of the next great change in human evolution. And you could be part of that! Fanciful, perhaps, but why not? Embrace it!

Do you have an eating disorder? Maybe you should see a psychaitrist and nutritionist together.

It's rotting flesh. Why would anyone find it appealing?
