My 2 year old daughter got genital warts last month. Her father is currently being investigated and tested, but he's demanding I be tested also. I had this when I was 16, but never had any warts since then and am 37 now. Is it still possible this could have come from me by my changing her diapers?

I did NOT have vaginal birth. My daughter was a C-section birth.

If you had a breakout and didn't wash your hands before changing your daughter I suppose it could be possible. It sounds like you have a rough road a head of you here and if I were you the first thing I would do is consult with a Dr. to see if something like that is even possible and then get a lawyer.

If you had them when you were pregnant and gave birth naturally it might be possible that you gave them to her then but she is just now getting a break out.

Although treatments can remove the warts, they do not remove the HPV virus, so warts can recur after treatment. The virus from remains in the body for a lifetime.[2] According to the Center for Disease Control's report on HPV to Congress in 2004, studies have shown that 70% of new HPV infections clear within one year, as many as 91% clear within two years. The median duration of new infections is typically eight months. The gradual development of an effective immune response is thought to be the likely mechanism for HPV DNA clearance. The state of the immune system determines the chances of removing the virus entirely and can be affected by factors such as HIV infection, certain medications, stress, or illness.[3] There is even some suggestion that effective treatment of the wart may aid the body's immune response

Yes you can. Genital warts are very contagious. And no it was not caused from changing her diapers. It was caused when you had a vaginal birth having her. It is passed to the infant as the infant passes through the cervix. You are the one with the HPV, and you should be tested. It is a virus you will have, and so will your daughter for the rest of your natural lives. Too bad this information wasn't given to your doctor when you were asked if you had ever had any type of STD when you were told you were pregnant. C-sections are given to mothers to prevent this from happening.

It sounds as if your husband is being investigated for sexually abusing your child. How awful for him, you, and your daughter. What ever happens I wish you the best.

it can be passed thru giving birth to your child. I don't think changing a diaper will do it. I think you both should be tested tho because it is only fair. You don't want to put all the blame on her father. I hope this helps.

How are genital HPV infections spread?

Genital HPVs can spread whether or not warts are present. They usually are spread by vaginal or anal intercourse. Because genital HPV infections are often unseen, they can be passed by sex partners who do not know they're infected.

Child abuse must be suspected when genital warts are present in children, although they may be passed to children in other ways.

while it is possible for the immune system to get rid of hpv after 3-5 years there is a large possibility that you still have it as there is no cure for it and the immune system only gets rid of it in about 50% of the people that get it..
did you give vaginal birth to your daughter? it is possible for a woman with hpv to pass it to their child during vaginal child birth and the virus could have been dorment until now in your daughter

Not likely. Genital warts is an std and you definitely didn't give it to her from changing her diapers. I feel for you and your daughter. Good Luck!

Warts come from physical contact. What would you be doing with your child to give her warts. If it were from you, it would have happened at birth.

i'm sorry to say but yes because it's not something that can be cured yet and sadly it's in ur blood stream which means if any cut on ur hand or scratch existed the possibilities are 50/50
