Over the past 4 years I have had 8 heart attacks and last week I had open heart surgery(double by pass). I'm broke and cannot work right now, and haven't worked alot over the past 4 years. The Dr said 6 to 8 weeks for most people. I have 2 children to take care of - 10 and 11 - I've gone to my church for help, they gave me 500.00 towards paying the 1100.00 I owe for rent, thank God, which was a big help, were do I go from here????? You can begin the process to file for permanent disability. It takes a while and you may be denied on the first application. There is no other financial program available other than local charities or asking family and friends to help out.

You DID work however..... please apply for social security disability AND you should also be receiving some sort of retirement disability from where you worked--ESPECIALLY if you were employed for a good amount of time... The process for applying for social Security disability isn't really difficult.... especially if you have all your records from the doctors... What I did was had my cardiologist photocopy every single bit of my file--INCLUDING HIS WRITTEN NOTES.... and I handed that to the social security case worker directly at the SS office... I also had a list of all my doctors and their addresses and phone numbers .... they sat me down and typed in all the information into the computer and told me that because I am TERMINAL, they would expedite the case... Well that was in JANUARY.... the normal waiting period from time of application to getting your first check is 6 ENTIRE MONTHS.... because they "expedited" my case, I received my first check in MAY of this year... (5 months---big expedite!!!)... ALSO, go to your electric company and ask for an application for HEAP.... it's NOT welfare but it can help you with your energy bills....... Also call you Human Resources director where you worked and see what THEY can offer you... retirement wise...... ANYTHING would help..!!!!! By the way, I DID retire 2 years ago and NOT on a disability retirement --so you CAN be retired AND get Social Security Disability as well... you can ALSO get Social Security Disability for a TEMPORARY amount of time if you are not always going to be sick....
