My husband and I are both type 2 diabetics. He was very thirsty all the time. I never craved water at all. It really depends on the person and how diabetes will affect them.
It is very possible that you could be a diabetic. You really need to call your doctor and let him do blood and urine tests.
According to my husband's endocrinologist, Dr. Jay Dey, symptoms of thirst and frequent urination happens only when blood sugars have gone very high, in the 300 -to- 500 range. He also said, if you are overweight, you are at risk for diabetes. If someone in your family has diabetes, the risk increases.
Here are the physical signs of diabetes, which everyone may or may not have, even with diabetes:
1. being very thirsty
2. frequent urination
3. extreme fatigue
4. losing weight without trying
5. blurry vision
6. irritability
7. sores that are slow to heal
8. dry, itchy skin
9. tingling or loss of feeling in the hands or feet
10. frequent infections, especially yeast infections
11. impotence
12. insomnia
Hope this helps. Good luck!

In order to determine if you have diabetes, you must not only have the symptoms, you have to have an elevated blood glucose which is tested by taking a 8-12 hour fasting sample of blood
Usually people with newly diagnosed diabetes have blood glucose's up in the hundreds, but not always. You really should not have an accucheck over 120 after a 12 hour fast.
If you do, it warrants more thorough investigation.
Men and women who are overweight and do not have good diet control often start out with non-insulin dependent diabetes which means starting out with an oral hypoglycemic agent instead of insulin.

Its certainly possible, or you could be prediabetic. Ask your doctor to do a Fasting Glucose Tolerance test, and an HbA1c. Then you'll know for sure. If they come back even borderline, then you need to make some dietary changes and get more exerise.
If you are diabetic, you'll need to get treatment and make some lifestyle changes to protect your health from further damage.

Illnesses tend to be that way. People will have most of the symptoms, but not all...since all would mean it's a severe case. So, my guess, yes, it's highly likely. Check with a certified M.D.

I'm not sure, but from my experience, extreme thirst and almost nonstop urination were my worst symptoms.
