Self control is what I used up until now, but there has to be something else I can do. Is there something nutritionally I can do?

Meat has been linked to so many diseases. I do not want to go back to being a meat eater.

Dr. John McDougal had an article awhile back. In it he stated that he found it usually really wasn't "meat" people craved it was the way we prepared it.. They wanted the flavors oft he sauces. BBQ, marinades etc. Not the plain old undoctored meat itself. Finding out that really helped me. I use a lot of those sauces in my veggie cooking & no longer feel the cravings.
Example my husbands homemade BBQ sauce on my Oven Roasted Potaotes is wonderful.

Of course there are also many great "meat" subsistutes. I don't think of them 1st. because they are full of things I am alleregic too,(Soy, Whey, Eggs, Gulten). Before I found out I couldn't eat them I did enjoy them once in a while.

Dr. McDougal's newsletter is free & full of great health articles, tips & recipes. Go through the archives they are so helpful in self education.

Ever tried any fake meats? They helped me through my initial adjustment/cravings period.

Boca, Morningstar Farms, Quorn, Garden Burger, and some less known ones make some decent veg meats.

One of my personal favorites is to make tacos with the Boca or Morninstar Farms crumbles. Delicious.

Have fun trying stuff out, and good luck with sticking to your guns.

Get a meat substitute. They have great substitutes for meats that taste really good. They are located in the frozen food section of your local grocery store. Also, if you don't live in a small town then maybe you have some vegetarian resturaunts. I live in San Antonio and we only have one but, its really good. And the food at vegetarian resturaunts are al suitable for vegetarians and it's already made for you by professional chefs and the food tastes great. At the food place where I live they have common foods like spagetti and chicken but they are meatless. Check and see if they are any veggie resturaunts near you.

Eat a vegetarian version of whatever it is you're craving.

Gardenburger Riblets
Tofurky deli slices on a sandwich or salad
Boca burgers
Morningstar Farms or Health is Wealth buffalo wings
Boca Spicy or Regular chik'n patties
Boca or MSF chik'n nuggets
Veggie dogs
Worthington Tuno
Soy Crumbles or TVP used as hamburger in ANY recipe
and so on.

Get seitan, it's like this soy/ protein based food that is made to have this texture of meat. Season it well (curry, soy sauce, sesame oil, or with seaweed) and it can achieve the flavor w/o having to actually eat meat, or fish.

Your body could be craving nutrients from meat...

Try taking iron supplements. I'm a meat eater, but I've noticed that I'm not as hungry for it if I take multivitamins that are high in iron.

Good luck!

Get Boca Burgers (frozen food section) they're very similar to hamburger if you load it up with cheese, onion, pickles, mustard & ketchup.

Also, I like the Fantastic mixes (esp. the taco stuff) - it makes great tacos. When I make the mix I add in a little bit of Chi Chi's taco sauce...Mmmmm.

there are sooooooo many delicious subsitutes. if you live in america, for thanksgiving you can get a tofurkey. they taste almost identical, and there's also no chicken noodle soup (it has tofu chunks that taste the same), no-chicken nuggets, BOCA meatless 'burgers' and 'chicken' patties, meatless lunch 'meat'...just find a store that sells them, most grocery stores have a section for that stuff.
