I'm 26 years old... Physically I look fit.. but I don't eat healthy at all... I mostly eat out about 5 times a week...mostly mcdonalds... or taco bell.... and I also have a veeery bad temper... and I also worry way too much... Now with that said... It hasbeen a couple of years now that I don't check with a doctor for physicals and exams... But for a couple of yeqars now I have noticed a mild sharp pain on my chest... It would come and go... sometimes the pain would be right above my left breast and spread under my armpits... my neck... and I also have had mild pain on my left arm.... I could be confusing it with muscle pain from work... but what bothers me is the sharp chest pain I be experiencing.... Is it possible for a 26 year old to develope heart problems?... I'm worried but don't want to run into conclusions and look stupid at the doctors office... just yet... at first I thought it was from anxiety and stress... any opinions?... please help... thanks..

Unlikely to be heart related in 26 yr old woman (presume you are woman based on your avatar).

Unless you have family member (parents or siblings) who had heart attack at younger age (less than 26 in your case), or happens to be morbidly obese, have diabetes, high blood pressure, smoker and have kidney failure (all things that predispose you to heart disease), your chance of it being heart problem is very low.

also, your description of the pain is very unlikely to be heart related (though woman tend to have "atypical" symptoms). most heart related pain are not sharp, nor would they have been present for many years without doing you in.

having said that, only stupid question you ask your doctor is a question you don't ask because you think it's stupid.

My problems started in my 20's. Those clogged arteries had to start sometime.

Don't worry about looking stupid. The stakes are too high.

If you are having this kind of problem, you should get checked out annually even if they do not find a problem. You could be developing blockages that would be difficult to detect with anything but the most sophisticated equipment.

PS. Burgers and fries are not worth getting split open for a bypass operation.

Ok your body is screaming for help well not screaming but i can see from your bad diet your not doing your body any favours.

I used to have a horriable diet like that till my better half demanded that i go to the doctor and get checked out.

i would aslo look into a low fat low salt diet take one a day garlic pills and try to relax.

lastly your not going to look stupid for going to the doctors with this problem you are having in fact it could save your life.

Also i am the same age as you. My friends girlfriend has a heart problem. not wanting to scare you but it could happen at any age.

Never think that you look stupid for going to the doctor for what you think may be heart problems. The description about your symptoms are signs related to heart problems. Heart problems are hereditary. So if you know family members who had history of the problem you are in great risk. Dont falter and wait before it is too late. Go to the doctor pronto!

Heart troubles are not respecters of age- or lack thereof. They have hit even kids.

Your body is warning you that something's not right. Pay attention and get a check-up.

And good luck.
