By reading the label, of course. As far as I know, Subway's breads don't contain eggs, but only the Italian (white bread) is considered vegan, as the rest have cheese or honey. If you look for breads at natural food stores, you should be able to find eggless breads.

In other cases, you will have to contact the company to ask if their products are vegan.

The only way to know is to check the ingredients or write/email the company you're buying the produce from. Subway's breads for example aren't all vegan but some are. Pizza express has vegan pizza bases.

The same way you know if it contains dairy, honey, meat, gelatin, lanolin, silk, wool, and any other animal product. You read the label.

Read the label on the package; they have to list all of the ingredients.
