Here is a great website for you...it has a vegetarian food pyriamid for you to go off of..it's not the same as the one you were taught in school...that should help you out alot. It has ways to get enough of everything...which isn't as hard as people make it out to be. It also has the different foods that will give you what vitamins you may not get enough of.....like iron. REGARDLESS of what everyone says protein isn't hard to get from eating this way. That is just a myth. Anyway..
Beans aren't meat BUT they serve almost the same purpose...they give your body about the same of everything meat would except the bad stuff like fat etc. That's why beans are in the same catagory as meat...so are nuts..they serve just about the same purpose too.
I went vegetarian at age 14 so it's not hard. It's not as hard as people make it out to be...the rearaging your thinking was the hardest..like the veggie pryamid...you have to relearn a few things.
The website should help you out a lot.

Eat a variety of healthy foods every day-- fresh fruits & veggies, whole grains & beans. Even if you don't think you "like vegetables" keep exploring b/c there are so many of them that you should be able to find several favorites.
It's good to include @ least 1 citrus fruit every day. Also, try to have both a dark green & a yellow veggie most days.
Beans aren't meat, but they *are* a good vegetarian source of protein, fiber & in some cases iron. Just read the label to make sure you have vegetarian beans--some refried beans, for example, contain lard (pig fat).
If you decide to go vegan (no dairy or eggs), get some vegan Vitamin B12 & take it a few times a week. If you still use dairy on a regular basis this won't be necessary.
Some vegetarians like fake meats like Morningstar or Smart Dogs-- some of these are pretty good & some pretty awful so you might need to try a few to see what you like personally (I can't stand Boca Burgers, but lots of other vegetarians enjoy them). Tofu is a good source of protein & calcium-- when I use it I either make a fruit smoothie with it, or I'll slice it up & use it in a spicy stir-fry (it doesn't have much of a taste by itself). You certainly don't need tofu or fake meats tho, it's up to you.
Try to have @ least half of your bread, cereal & rice as whole grains. Whole grains are not only very healthy, but they'll help give you energy for your cheer-leading & dancing.

No, beans are NOT meat. They don't come from animal flesh. For a few good veggie recipe books, check the links below.

if u are going to be a vegetarian. there are a lot of deficiency because vegetables dont have all the nutrient that your body need.
1. vegetables and fruits lack vitamin B12 which only stored in meat. so, in order to keep balance, you need to buy supplements of B12 from the pharmacy or u'll be diagnosed with severe and irreversible damage, especially to the brain and nervous system.
2.your protein, iron, zinc and calcium will be low too. tofu can be a good source of protein, iron, zinc and calcium.
beans are not meat, although they are high in protein. but you may have a lot of gas later. hazelnut are really good.
cereals, eggs, legumes (including peas, beans, chickpeas, lentils and soy foods) and nuts are significant sources of iron.
do read more in articles in the internet or anywhere u can find.
