I am not vegitarian. But I can try and help with the report. Really as mankind encounters the unknown of today and all of the sickness that has come upon us I really don't understand why more people have not become quote Vegitarians. The most earking thing is what they put into our beef and pork and chicken to prepare it for shelf life in our stores is sickening. Just think of the intake we eat everyday. Along with the unsafe handling of those products. To shorten this maybe you can research what our meats from farm to meat packing plants and the way it is handled can convince others. I do even though I am not a vegitarian believe we get our own sickness induced to mankind by our own short sight of no monitoring of where our foods come from. Or how our animals are raised for our food intake.

I'm a vegetarian! I know what you mean. It's hard to impress the non-veggies. If your husband can have cheese I highly recommend something that features it. Twice baked potatoes would be great. Other ideas for a BBQ could be potato salad, quiche, or even a quinoa salad would be a great idea since it has complete proteins while still being vegan. I don't recommend bringing fake meats, because although I think they are delicious they tend to weird the less-accepting people out. I hope that helps!

I'm guessing because they watched a lot of videos about animals dying for a terrible cause and they went vegetarian. Some do it to experiment because they heard it was healthy. The others do it because they were never a big fan of meat. Thats all i know, I'm not a vegetarian. But I have this co-worker who doesn't really eat anything with sugar, just because he isn't a fan of things tasting sweet. Yeah probably didn't help.

P.S. it will help in your report to spell vegetarian right. lol

Because some people believe it's wrong to eat innocent animals. I actually was vegetarian... for 3 months. That didn't last long. Plus I always think to myself animals eat animals. And I need meat for proteins. But I respect vegetarians. Back to your question I would say people become vegetarian also to let animals live a life. I mean seeing farm animals dead is sad and I try not to think about it. I feel really bad for them... And also I've heard from people that God put these animals down on earth for us to eat. I'm not agreeing with them but I will admit it does taste good.

Some people do it for health reasons, some can't eat meat or don't like the taste of it, some just do it for fad reasons, some do it for diet reasons, but one of the most likely reasons could be that they care for animals and don't want to eat them so they became a vegetarian. It is all a choice just like eating meat and people aren't always pressured into it but some times they are and that is sad.

Well, if someone is a vegetarian for health reasons, I can respect that.
But I find the 'meat is murder' theory proposterous.
First, animal habitat is destroyed in order to make a productive farm, as well as steps taken to repel animals from getting at the veggies. Doesn't sound very kind to me.
Second, I fail to see the distinction between eating part of an animal that was once alive and eating part of a plant that was once alive. Oh sure, some plants can survive having part of itself torn off, but most common farm produce only gets one shot at life, then gives it up so that you can eat a meal that makes you feel secure.
Anyway, if you're okay with eating your until-recently-living veggies, then it shouldn't bother you if I enjoy my bacon cheeseburger.

Peace love & happiness to you too.

People go vegetarian because they want to. They read conflicting information on the nutritional value of meat versus vegetables, they only want to eat vegetables because they are opposed to the killing of animals, maybe they have been told red meat is bad for them because of the cholesterol, or some other reason. But please don't try to convince people to be vegetarians. If I want to be, I will. Right now I'm fine being an omnivore.

There are many reasons people become vegetarians! It could be for religious, ethical and for food-safety reasons. Like mad cow disease and inhumane treatments of animals. There are also many ecological beliefs such as livestock is believed to be a major contribution to global warming. Vegetarians have many concerns about the effect of meat industries on the global environment. There are also many health benefits too such as a reduced risk of obesity, lower blood pressure and reduced risk of cancer to name a few.

Hope that helped!

I heard about The China Study in 1998. Been veggie ever since and am going vegan right now. Animal protein has been pretty much undisputable shown to be the trigger for all major diseases of affluence(cancer, heart disease, diabetes, osteoporosis, etc)--scientifically proven. By highly respected scientists NOT whacko quacks.

I went vegetarian because I had always loved animals, and never knew how they were killed for meat until September of 2006. I saw a video, and went lacto-ovo vegetarian. I avoid all meat, gelatin, rennet, leather, fur, and products tested on animals or that have animal ingredients.

It helps me stay healthier, save animals, and the environment.
