They have two options. First they can be spread out behind the combine and then be disked back into the ground for natural fertilizer. The other option is for the stalks to be spread, dried by the sun, and then bailed for cattle to eat instead of hay. Also, instead of being bailed, they stalks can be put in large airtight bags, fermented by the sun, and then fed to cattle instead of hay. First hay imitation is cheaper but lower quality.
