sounds like jock itch which i think is a form of a yeast infection. You can get a yeast infection there because of sweat...moisture...its where fungus thrives.
When my son was a baby he got a yeast infection. The ointment the dr gave me for it is called.....Ketoconazole, I read the instructions on it, and it was for athletes foot, confused I called the dr and double checked why i was to put FOOT cream on my son's genitals. It was gone in 2 days. I dont know if over the counter creams would work... call a dr and have them call something in for you(you might have to be seen by the dr first)
Wear COTTON and change your underware after working out and such.

BUT could be crabs.... I'd assume a yeast infection first if i were you.
Good luck with the itch!

There are many reasons for itching pubes.

As noted, it could be lice. You need to go to a pharmacist and buy an over-the-counter medication for lice (if you are really that ashamed tell the pharmacist you have a child with head lice, it's basically the same medication) It's under a generic name like kwell or something like it.

You could have a sexually transmitted disease. You should go to a doctor, as ignoring it might make it come back in owrse form later.

If you have recently switched detergents, it could be that you are allergic to your detergent as well. Or some other material such as rubber or spandex in your undies.

There's a possibility that you may have jock itch or a yeast infection. Another possibility is that you have crabs-an std. Go to the doctor for treatment for the crabs and check the otc section for yeast and jock itch treatments-shaving the hairs may make it worse. Shower every day and dry well down there! If you sweat heavily you may need 2 showers a day. Good luck!

You may have crabs, especially if you're sexually active. You could also contract them from clothing or bedding. Crabs are visible (barely), so go check it out. You can get a shampoo kit at the drugstore to get rid of them. There are also detergents for clothes and linens. It may also help to shave the area, and use the shampoo. Sometimes it takes two or three applications several days apart to completely erradicate them.

edit: The parasites don't actually live/feed off hair. They attach to your skin and feed off your blood, so shaving will not remove them. You have to use the shampoo.

Jock itch is a fungus. It's the same as athlete's foot. You can get some spray or powder at the drugstore. Don't wash your underwear with the bathroom rug.

You should be looked at by your doctor as it may be an STD. In the meantime, wear cotton only underwear and bathe well. Do see a medical professional though.

no, shaving won't help at all, they will grow back and then you have the stubble itching. Are you sure you don't have crabs? suggest you see a doctor.

it sounds like crabs to me ( pubic lice). Go get a lice treatment kit at the drugstore. Use it on the pubic area. Shaving can help, but u will need to use the lice kit also to completely kill them.
