Lately I've been running out of breath easily and sometimes it seems I cant breathe without thinking to, and when that happens it gets hard to breathe right cuz it feels i'm getting too little air.I'm really worried cuz it gets scary when it gets hard to breathe- and these times it happens is almost out of nowhere like when I'm doing some work in class or trying to go to sleep.
I dont have asthma and I play sports.
I also kind of getting a little pain in my chest for a few seconds, goes away and sometimes comes back again.
help?

the not being able to breath easily part happens mostly when things are going normally

I dont really get stressed that much- but even when i am stressed, the attacks dont come during then. Its confusing actually...
Also I am very comfortable with how i sleep lmao. but so far, thanks the answers were very helpful. :)

Have you had a physical lately? It could be anything from mild anxiety to congestive heart failure. Your symptoms are too vague.

As with everyone else's advice, tell your parents (if you're a kid) and check with your doctor. We see plenty of people who have never had asthma who present to ER's or their doctors with asthma-like symptoms. Sometimes these "attacks" are what we call reactive airway disease (which is a broad term that includes asthma); but sometimes they're not, and it's VITAL to get checked out. Your doc can evaluate your symptoms and when they happen, etc. and help you with proper care. From my personal recent experience, I get asthma symptoms only if I'm sick from a cold or other respiratory virus, and when my hospital strips and waxes the floors (which is an allergic trigger for me). I had none of these symptoms until I was an adult, so it can happen anytime. Good luck and feel better!

Hi Kyra..
Since when you feel that way?
If you don't have asthma, maybe you to panic so feel hard to breathe. if it's happened again just calm down. rilex. there's nothing to worried.
or when you trying to sleep, just turn on your lamp. Just make yourself feel comfort. maybe you can pray before sleep.
i suggested you, to check to the doctor.. maybe you can know the result..

Are you sure you don't have asthma? When were you checked for it last?

it sounds like asthma, but it could be something more serious, like your heart... please see your DR, get some tests ran and his/her opinion.
