It's dumb to NOT do what you want simply because other people might judge you. It's a sign of a weak character.

If you want to be a vegetarian, and you have good reasons for doing so, and you have researched how to replace meat with other foods, go for it. Eating more vegetables, fruits and legumes can only make you feel better. And, if you find you have no interest anymore, or you dislike it, you can always switch back to eating meat.

Maybe, if you're worried about your friends, don't label yourself "vegetarian," right off the bat if they're terribly closed minded. Just say you're avoiding meat, eat veggie foods, and see how it works out for the first few weeks.

Why would vegetarians think becoming a vegetarian is dumb?

Don't let your friends have so much influence over your life.
