Onion is an excellent natural decongestant. Have some onion soup. Slice an onion and keep it nearby. You'll smell like you need a shower, but it will help clear out your head. I think it clears out the chest, too, but I'm not sure. Keep taking your meds; this is just to help you feel more comfortable.

Ginger is great for your throat, so boil some gingerroot and drink the 'tea' it makes. Sweeten it with honey, since honey is a natural antibiotic.

What difference does it make? Even a meat eater should not be eating meat during a bout of pneumonia. It is very hard to digest meat even under normal circumstances. When you're sick, it's impossible.

When I had pneumonia, I had no appetite. I lived on bananas, peaches, raspberries and occasionally cooked rice and soup. It had nothing to do with being vegetarian and everything to do with what I could keep down.

For decongesting, I like to have tomato soup with lots and lots of freshly cracked black pepper. NO CREAM.
Or vegetable soup. Any thin, broth soup works. The key is the pepper.

With pneumonia you need to hydrate yourself a TON! The fluid will help liquefy the gunk in your lungs and it will be easier to.....uh....expell. I've had pneumonia 3 times...it has to run it's course with the antibiotics.....but keeping yourself super hydrated will make you feel better ,....I promise. Nothing you eat or don't eat will make a difference....sorry

It doesn't matter what you eat-the only cure for pneumonia is antibiotics. Try to get adequate nutrition and stay hydrated-that's all you can do.
