My husband went to the doctor today and his blood pressure was 280 over 175. How dangerous is that? He said the doc wanted him to go to the hospital, but he refused. So he got 2 prescriptions instead... Seems to me that's pretty high... When I was pregnant, my blood pressure shot up to 165 over 100 and my doc was VERY concerned.

Last night he couldn't read a menu in the drive thru... He said it was blurry, which isn't normal for him. He also missed an exit that he travels every day. Those were the 2 things that he told me happened that made him go to the doctor... I am trying to get him to go to the hospital ASAP as I speak... thank you all for answering!!!

GRAVE--if those numbers are correct...he is in definite crisis and I cant imagine a doctor giving oral meds for a BP of that magnitude. His physician should have insisted. You didnt mention why he went to the doctor. If he is having headaches, problems with his vision, get him to the ER ASAP...like mentioned before very high risk for stroke and his heart, adrenal glands, all are working over time, have him rest this evening and an Aspirin wouldnt hurt. Try to have his BP checked daily if possible

Wow! That is scary high!
When I was pregnant I got toxcemia and my blood preasure was 225 over 127 and the doctors were SO afraid that I was going to stroke out. I was admitted right then.

PLEASE if you love your husband, and if your husband wants to be living the next beautiful day/week MAKE him go to the Emergency Room. Call 911 if he doesn't feel like walking. He should advoid walking, straining, ANYTHING that may raise it up further. At the Emergency Room they will place an IV in his arm with very strong medicine that will lower his blood preasure and help get him further away from stroking. THIS will save his LIFE. He MUST go and he must GO NOW! Just try to be calm, if he see's that you are worried or panicing then he will get anxious and it will go up even more. Calmly call 911 and calmly tell him they are coming to save his life!!

Your husband will be in my prayers (if thats ok) and my thoughts!!! Best Wishes! I hope he makes it to the ER so he can enjoy the rest of his life and be happy with his wife and family!!! Make Him Go!!!

280/175 is hypertensive crisis. Your husband should have followed his doctor's advice and entered the hospital. Good luck with this. It is nothing to play around with.

You better let him know that he better get to the hospital and be admitted to prevent having a stroke and winding up in a home

The Cholesterol Theory is a sham but elevated blood pressure is not

This is serious

Now go to the hospital NOW and have him admitted

he will be glad he listened

YOU DO NOT want to end up in a home

he will only be in the hospital a short time cpomapred to a home

go NOW !

He will get a drug to lower it

HAVE HIM REMAIN RELAXED ABD GET TO HOSPITAL

IAM SERIOUS

GO NOW !!!!!!!!

Mine had been 260/160 since I've been 18 and never goes down... I'm 43 now and everyone says I could drop dead at any moment... but yet here I am. I rarely get headache or nosebleeds.

Saturated fat is the main dietary cause of high blood cholesterol. Saturated fat is found mostly in foods from animals and some plants. Foods from animals include beef, beef fat, veal, lamb, pork, lard, poultry fat, butter, cream, milk, cheeses and other dairy products made from whole and 2 percent milk. All of these foods also contain dietary cholesterol. Foods from plants that contain saturated fat include coconut, coconut oil, palm oil and palm kernel oil (often called tropical oils), and cocoa butter.
The best thing for high cholesterol is dieting.

He would be dead at that level! Normally anything over 180/100 is at enlarge heart level anything much higher is stroke! He needs his *** to a hospital if he refuses ask him how he would like not to around you or your child.

That can't be right. He'd be dead. He's a ticking time bomb, anyway. Give him an ultimatum to save his life.

Normal is 120 over 80.
