Genital warts can be TREATED, and may physically go away, but that doesn't mean the virus that causes them is gone (HPV).
HPV is a virus and there are no cures for viruses. Most women are able to get rid of the virus on their own though. Their bodies basically "fight it off". However, since HPV is a virus, and there is no "cure", some women will always have the virus and are unable to get rid of it.
HPV is contracted through sex (vaginal, oral, or anal) or any kind of DIRECT skin to skin contact with the infected area of someone who has it. So, even if you have never had sex, but have had some kind of DIRECT skin to skin contact with the infected area of someone who does have the virus, you could contract it.
Take care!

Genital warts are caused by a virus called HPV, just like warts on the hand.
If you have warts, the virus stays in your body forever, but many people do not have recurring outbreaks because their body fights it off.
If you actually have genital warts, they had to be caused by sexual skin to skin contact, not necessarily intercourse, but contact.
A doctor can remove them, and if you are healthy and have a normal immune system, they most likely will not return at all, or not very often.
Please see a doctor to know for sure what you really have and discuss this with the doctor to find out your best options.

genital warts are not curable however from time to time in some cases they do go away on their own [although you may test negative and show no physical signs of it the strain will still be in your body just adapted and assumingly harmless]
are you sure you have genital warts if you're not sexually active? meaning has a doctor diagnosed you with this?

Did you get touchy feely with somebody but not go all the way? Genital warts is skin on skin contact. You can only get them thru direct contact.

I think the doctor can freeze them off, but why do you think you have them if your not sexually active?? I am pretty sure you can only get them by having intercourse or oral sex.
