A vegetarian friend of mine asked how can I accept to eat the body of a dead animal?
So, I must ask how vegetarians can accept to eat the dead body of a plant and don`t feel any guilt?

God how many times has this question been asked??
Plants don't have a nervous sytem so they can't feel pain. They don't have emotions, they don't feel fear, can't bear young, don't have parents, aren't self aware - the list could go on. Animals feel fear and pain just as we do and the way they are 'farmed' in factories is disgusting... if the same were to happen to humans there would be an outcry... in fact it did happen... it was called the holocaust. If you think there is no difference between plants and animals then you're as stupid as this question is.
EDIT: If you really feel so strongly about it then how are you still alive? Should you not have starved to death by now? We can survive without meat, we can't survive without eating plants. Eating plants is natural... in fact a lot of them thrive on the fact that we eat them. Fruits for example have tiny seeds which survive digestion so animals spread them through faeces.

The main difference is that as a human, I am a herbivore, therefore designed to eat such plant materials.
Second, when I cut the leaves from my plants, they grow more leaves. Berries and fruits etc. are designed to be eaten -- it is their purpose. If I wanted to, I could avoid eating such things as carrots where, when pulled out of the ground are essentially killed. I don't, but I could -- there are plenty of other plant to eat which do not die from me consuming them.
When eating animals, I think that you would have to try eating a freshly killed uncooked animal -- that would be the true natural way of eating meat. But since humans are not designed for such, we cook it in order to make it more palatable, digestible, and hopefully kill off any disease, parasites, bacteria, etc. of which we are not designed to deal with.
If I were designed to eat the flesh of animals, I would neither feel any remorse for their death than a wolf would. I would salivate at the thought. But, I have nor the natural weapons to catch prey than I do to tear it apart without tools.

Obviously we need to eat in order to live. Even if plants were capable of feeling pain, eating plants causes much less pain to others that eating meat does, b/c when you eat meat you are not only responsible for the pain caused to the animal you are eating, but for the theoretical pain of all the plants that the animal ate during his/her life. An animal must eat several pounds of plants in order to to produce 1 pound of meat, more or less, depending on the species of animal you are eating.

A plant doesn't feel anything when it's plucked. Animals can feel electrocution, getting their throats slashed, being boiled alive, living in a cage too small for their bodies, disease, and mistreatment from the slaughterers.
Please don't try to pretend a head of lettuce feels the same way a pig does when they're killed.

Dear, plants and animals are two completly different things. While plants "live" like animals, they make up most of our healthy food intake. Vegetable and fruits are more healthy than meats, although we get our protein from meat.

Plants were meant to be eaten. They are attractive and juicy and colored to entice animals to eat them so they carry the seeds somewhere else and poop them out (in some cases). If this did not happen the species would not survive. Plants usually don't kill us with heart disease and cancer and animal products DO, so Nature clearly did not mean for us to eat animals and everything about the plant foods we eat indicates we were meant to eat them. It's called logic. Try it.

plants dont have hearts or brains or feelings.
but i dont think eating meat is totally wrong...i just dont want to eat it all the time, and for me its easier just to give it up, specially since i dont enjoy it-its not worth it!
