I want to become a vegetarian because I LOVEE animals to death and I don't want to have to eat them plus I don't like how meat tastes anyways. But I want to have a new diet that is still giving me my protein. I can't eat or drink any dairy because I am lactose intolerant. I do drink lactose free milk but that's it. And I hate tofu burgers and stuff. What can I do ?

I think part of the point of being a vegetarian is that you don't want to love the animals to DEATH...maybe just love them a whole bunch.

If you're just looking to practice a vegetarian diet your options are wide open. Even though you're lactose intolerant you can still eat dairy products, just none that come from cows. Goat's milk and cheeses, as well as sheep's milk and cheeses are perfectly okay.

So now, just stay away from meat, cow's milk and whatever else you don't feel like eating and you'll be fine.

Protein: is found in every living thing. Protein if found in abundance everywhere. No need to worry about it. We make our own protein from amino acids. You need to eat amino acids, not protein. It's all a protein propaganda myth; don't believe it. Remember, all those millions of people out there that are vegetarian have no troubles at all. In India, Taiwan, China, and even in, Yes, N. America.

Don't eat or drink dairy, you don't need it. You are not a baby cow, so don't drink milk that is for baby cows. Humans babies are the same as all other mammals. Once they are done breast feeding, they never need milk every again in their whole life. Look at Asia. Most Asians have never had diary in their whole lives and they get along fine. That's how being a mammal works. The term "Lactose intolerant" was created by people that want you to believe that there's something wrong with you; that you have a problem, but it's not true. Being lactose intolerant is just mind control -- they want to fool you into believing that non-infant humans are supposed to consume milk. Not only that, but consume the milk of other animals. Why? $$$money$$$

What can you do? First, go to the library and start reading. Read everything you can get your hands on... all the medical books, biology books, gardening books, cook books... It's all about self education and building up your knowledge and skills... Knowledge and skills that, luck for us, have not been lost.

You don't need to worry about protein as long as you eat a healthy diet in general & get enough calories. Even oranges & parsley have some protein, everything does & it adds up during the course of the day.
Beans, nuts & peanut butter are good protein sources. If you're the adventurous type, you might want to try different types of veggie burgers b/c some of them *are* awful but others are really good.
Since you don't use much dairy anyway, you might want to omit it altogether, stop eating eggs too & go vegan. In that case, get some vegan B12 & take it a few times a week. If not, you are getting protein in your lactose-free milk.
Good luck.

I think you only need something like 2 to 3 grams of protien for every 100 calories to get the nutrients you need, and you can get that from a lot of vegetarian foods. I don't think there are many fruits that provide a whole lot of protein, but you can definitely get enough from vegetables, beans, nuts, and grains.

Beans are a good source of protien: soybeans, blackbeans, kidney beans, etc. Tofu and tempeh. Soymilk, soy cheese, and soy yogurt (good for the lactose intolerant). Spinach, broccoli, chickpeas, black-eyed peas. Whole wheat bread, preferably without high fructose corn syrup. There are a lot of menu options that would give you plenty of protein without meat and without dairy.

You could try http://www.vegweb.com for recipe ideas. Here's a good article that busts the protein myth: http://www.savvyvegetarian.com/articles/protein-veg-diet.php

Make sure you eat beans at least twice a week (like in a burrito or something) and have a handful of nuts each day. That will give you more than enough protein.

Well eat fruits and vegetables only and avoid the ones you don't like. Simple.

Just remember to drink plenty of water daily. And that's plain water only. Avoid milk, coffee, and tea. If you want tea don't use the ones in teabags. Get the ones where you have to boil the tea leaves.

Go Natural!
