I'm on my way, actually. But cutting out eggs was/is kind of difficult for me. Not eating dairy was easy though, as I am also lactose intolerant!
I wouldn't consider myself vegan, because I still eat products with egg and small amounts of dairy. It's really a huge lifestyle change, and you have to really pay attention to what you are eating, as many things have dairy, etc. hidden in them. (Especially processed foods).
In fact, I just purchased soy cheese that contained Casein...from milk?!

I admit I enjoy cheese & although I eat soy cheese whenever possible, most of it has casein (milk product). However, the main reason is that it's simply so difficult @ this time for me to completely be vegan-- just like with the soy cheese, "hidden" dairy is in so many products including many breads & some cereals. I don't drink milk & stopped buying eggs about 15 years ago, use agave nectar in place of honey & I do have a few days in an average week that I am able to adhere to veganism.
My SO gradually became vegetarian during our 1st year together but he doesn't want to "get into" learning about how animals are treated in the egg & dairy industries & has recently expressed a desire to start having eggs *here* (which he'll have to cook himself btw).

I really don't understand it. Not trying to irritate anyone, but I eat everything an omnivore eats.. cheese, milk, etc... but it doesn't contribute money to horrifically cruel industries. So, if you're an ethical vegetarian, I really can't understand what you think you'd miss out on by going vegan.

I am a vegetarian by religion since birth. Earlier it was just habit...now its ideology. I am planning to go vegan just considering the animals are manipulated and poorly cared for in the dairy farms...I think its very sad because human babies weren't meant to drink cow's milk.

I like cheese. I mean, I love cheese.
Plus it's really hard to be healthy on a vegan diet. If it was possible, I'd probably do it. I don't really eat eggs at all (except in an occasional cookie or pastry). But getting complete proteins is really difficult without hoarding on calories as a vegan, so most vegans are obese (you don't have to weigh a lot to be obese, just mostly body fat instead of lean body weight).

im not healthy enough as it is...and i dont have the money to buy soy milk and such atm. if i went vegan, itd piss off my mom even more...shes unhappy with me being vegitarian because...i dont eat her meat sauce on spaghetti, or her chicken, etc. and again, i dont eat terribly healthy. im gettin there though.

i think that if you dont eat dairy you dont have strong bones. like i drink milk and cereal to have strong bones so they wont brake
