It's a good idea to use condoms just in case he doesn't have the virus. It's also a good idea because condoms will protect you (and him) from contracting any STDs either one of you may have and are just unaware of. Condoms also help prevent pregnancy. So, unless you are on another kind of birth control, it's a good idea to use them.

Although condoms can HELP prevent the spread of HPV and other STDs, they are not 100% effective. STDs like HPV and also genital herpes can be spread by DIRECT skin to skin contact. So, even if your boyfriend wears a condom it's still possible for him to contract the virus from you. The condom only covers a man's penis - not his entire genital area. Just the rubbing back and forth of the genital areas during foreplay or sex is enough to spread HPV.

Chances are, if you have been having unprotected sex, then he already has HPV. He might have even been the one who gave it to you. Since there is no test to detect HPV in men though, it's basically impossible to know for sure if he has the virus or not. Most men are unaware they have HPV because there are usually no signs or symptoms of the virus. They end up spreading HPV unknowingly.

It's a REALLY good idea you stay on your pap smears too. Pap smears are the best thing a woman can do to detect any abnormalities on the cervix which can lead to cervical cancer.

Take care!

They cannot test for HPV in males. Papilloma stand for uterus - so only females can be tested. Chances are, he probably already has it. Condoms can protect against all Sexually Transmitted Diseases, not just HPV, so condoms are never a bad thing. They will keep you from getting pregnant and from transmitting any other STD's you or or partner may have. Continue to get your paps to keep an eye on your HPV so it does not get out of control.

Chances are he has it also, if you have been having unprotected sex. It will take a while to see if he has any signs. So for now i would use protection.
