Dairy products can make your mucous thicker and therefore make your nose stuffier. That's the only reason. If eating yogurt makes you feel better then eat it up!

I say the same thing as the others dairy products create mucus..best use them sparingly when you have a cold or flu. Drink hot fluids like Hot Lemonaide, or even Hot Koolaid, even Hot tang is good.. U don't need to waste money on Neo-Citrin!
If you buy something for cold or flu get Breath Easy, FeverFew, or Flu Tea made by Traditional! Try Quorn instead of Yogurt!
or try Coconut based Yogurt!

Dairy greatly increases your chance of cancer. It's been proven.
Read The China Study.
And does something that creates mucous seem like something you should be eating?
You are an adult and are not supposed to still be consuming milk products. And you're not a cow, so unless that yogurt is made from human breast milk (yuck) then it's even weirder and more unnatural.
Think about it.

Actually, if it's the lactose that increases phlegm, then yoghurt's probably fine. Most of the lactose is broken down.
If you crave something, maybe there's something in it that you need. But in this case, maybe it's your body's way of bringing down the fever by making you eat cold stuff. In that case, cold fruit juice would be just as good, and full of vitamin C to heal that cold.

Dairy does increase mucous production--ick. Maybe you could try organic soy yogurt. It has roughly the same texture as cows' milk yogurt without the phlegm--producing compounds.

It may make your symptoms slightly worse, but it will probably help your general health (like getting over the illness and gaining strength and stuff..) better.
Hope you feel better!

while it does promote thickening of mucous, the active cultures in the yogurt will help your digestive system battle off the "bug"

Go ahead and eat dairy when you're sick... if you feel like creating nausea and having major mucus and a thick throat...
AKA avoid it.

The only bad thing about it is that dairy aids in mucus production. If you're already phlegmy, it'll only make it worse.
