This is funny to me because i post mainly about football and vegetarianism. It really isnt a bad place to ask though, we are good cooks and you can put bbq sauce on things apart from meat. Anyway, when i make sauce it is kind of a feel like thing with no measurements. It starts with some vegetable oil, you simmer that and put some onion and garlic in it, personally i like to get a couple fresh jalapeño and put just the seeds in at this stage as well, but i make it really spicy and i know how sensitive you meat eaters are with your stomachs and all so you may not want to do this. then you put in some ketchup, tomato paste, apple juice, and cider vinegar, and moe lass is (tomato paste and ketchup use about the same amount, apple juice and cider vinegar use about the amount of the ket/tom together) and spice that all up with some various herbs (very much a feel like thing for me about what herbs) chili powder brown sugar and some hot sauce. turn the heat down and let that simmer for an hour or longer monitoring the consistency and making adjustments as necessary based on the taste.

I am a meat-eater .... so here goes: 1st thing to a good sauce is to use the drippings from your ribs as a base. Basic recipe is: 1/2 c. brown sugar, 1/2 c. orange juice, 1/2 c. of another juice (apple, pineapple, etc., and a 1/2 c. honey. After that add whatever your preference: garlic, mustard, liquid smoke, red peppers, molasses, ketchup, etc.

Secret-Recipe BBQ Sauce

**triple-tested at the Good Housekeeping Research Institute**

Brush this over anything -- from hamburgers to chicken. The recipe makes almost 5 cups, so you'll have enough for several dishes.

INGREDIENTS
1 tablespoon(s) olive oil
1 (12 ounces) jumbo onion, chopped
2 tablespoon(s) fresh ginger, peeled and chopped
3 tablespoon(s) chili powder
3 clove(s) garlic, crushed with press
1 can(s) (8 ounces) crushed pineapple in juice
1 can(s) (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes in puree
1/3 cup(s) ketchup
1/4 cup(s) cider vinegar
3 tablespoon(s) dark brown sugar
3 tablespoon(s) mild molasses
2 teaspoon(s) dry mustard
1 teaspoon(s) salt

DIRECTIONS
1. In 5- to 6-quart saucepot, heat olive oil over medium heat until hot. (Do not use a smaller pan; sauce bubbles up and splatters during cooking - the deeper the pan, the better.) Add onion and ginger and cook 10 minutes or until onion is tender and golden. Add chili powder and cook 1 minute, stirring. Add garlic and crushed pineapple with its juice, and cook 1 minute longer.
2. Remove saucepot from heat. Stir in tomatoes with their puree and remaining ingredients.
3. Spoon one-fourth of sauce into blender. At low speed, blend sauce until smooth. Pour sauce into bowl; repeat with remaining sauce. Return sauce to saucepot; heat to boiling over high heat. Reduce heat to medium-low and cook, partially covered, 25 minutes or until reduced to about 4 3/4 cups, stirring occasionally.
4. Cover and refrigerate sauce if not using right away. Sauce will keep up to 1 week in refrigerator or up to 2 months in freezer.

I do, but it's an ancient vegan secret and must not be divulged without the secret vegan handshake ritual.

I think you accidentally chose the wrong category in which to put your question. It must be all those chemicals you are imbibing in your meat. Or maybe some disease is setting in? Perhaps you need to ensure you have your '5 a day' in order to improve brain function.
