What do you do in Halloween?
Do you let your kids trick or treat and then take all the candy that has gelatin?

My kids are vegan and they went trick o' treating last night. Today they will be giving the candy to their friends...not only because most of the candy is not vegan but because I would never (vegan or not) allow them to consume such amounts of sugar.

Luckily I live in a place where there's lots of veg friendly people and many had options such as granolas and gelatin-free fruit roll ups.

And no my kids don't see it as harsh or cruel..They know I'm looking out for them.

My kids are too young for candy.
I see people giving babies candy.
It's wrong. Candy is not the right of all children.
Candy has been promoted as the children's treat, but of course it's very bad for them. Even if it was a totally natural chunk of organic cane sugar, they shouldn't be eating it.
What do stupid people say to that? "Ooh, you should let the children have their candy... it won't do them any harm... you are depriving them of their childhood... bla bla bla".

Yeah. We always have an abundant supply of vegan twizzlers and Laffy Taffy anyways. Our kids enjoy it. I love the people at the top who think we're not "letting" our kids enjoy themselves! My kids (3 and 5) would rather die than eat something that contains animal parts. Funny they have the sense some adults don't. : )

How about letting them eat the candy that is vegan and donating the rest to needy children?

Either you just let them eat what they get, or you make something special at home and don't send them out trick or treating. You can't let a kid go and collect a bag full of candy and then chuck out three quarters of it, that's harsh.
