my daughter (20months) ran a fever of 103 the night before with some constant episodes of coughing...i was concerned so i brought her the the doctor yesterday....doc tested her for a couple of viruses all which were negative so she suggested to continue with motrin for fever and a cough suppressant...i was fine with that.....about 9pm last night my daughter grabs her stomach, screams and then starts vomiting....it was clear and GREEN and quite a bit....then again at about 2 am...she has not eaten in 2 days......now i have seen lots of vomiting through out my rotations in nursing school but never green...then a few minutes ago she started grabbing her stomach again and crying but so far nothing has come up......what could this mean? should i be worried?

Actually, green is normal when it comes from the stomach. That is the normal color of bile. Your job right now is to make sure that she does not become dehydrated. Try some Popsicles and maybe some Gatorade. Don't force her to eat if she doesn't want to but do push those fluids. Gator aid has the electrolytes in it that she needs. Keep her temps down with Motrin and a tepid....not cold but not hot bath. My son had exactly the same thing only his temp was 104 degrees. We called the doc but they seemed unconcerned as long as he was not delirious. So we cooled him down and gave him Popsicles. He would vomit and I was so afraid that he was getting dehydrated. I actually gave him a children's peptobismal melt in your mouth tab and that helped calm his tummy down.

It is hard to see your little one so sick. Just snuggle her and push those fluids. Good luck.

For kids, on occasional vomit is not necessarily a sign of anything but a stomach bug. In this case, though, it sounds like bile came up, and that could be serious. Take her to the ER or your local walk-in clinic or urgent care facility. I don't think I'd wait for another doctor's appointment!

Hope she's feeling better soon!

green is the natural color of bile. I would take her to an urgent care or ER, there could be other problems such as a bowel obstuction or appendix. It could just also be stomach cramps but I always say best to be safe than sorry.

Green vomit is not indicative of a lung or bronchial infection, vomit comes from the gastrointestinal area.

The colour green in any part of the body usually means infection. She should go to the hospital. It could be some sort of bronchial infection.

The doctor's advice is required. It sounds like "bile." Try another doctor and see about her right away. I wish you well.
