The instructions on my singulair say to take it in the evening. I've been out for a few days, and just got my new perscription and my allergies are really bothering me. Is it okay to go ahead and take it now and then start tomorrow taking it in the evening? Why is it that I should take it in the evening in the first place?

Some take it every AM and some Evey PM. Most asthma patients take it in the evening and most allergy patients take it in the morning.

If you just got the prescription, go ahead and take one then start on a regular routine tomorrow.

The instructions are probably being given because in their studies they have found it most effective, or more pallatable, when given in the evening. What you could do is take it now, and then work your way around to when you want to take it more regularly. So like if wanted to take it at 9pm each evening, and now is 3pm take it, and then tomorow take it at 5pm, and the next day take it at 7pm, and the next you can take it at 9pm, this way you have less time without drug coverage. If its a 24hr drug, then you would be goin 26 hours between treatments instead of say 30 hours.

Singulair can be taken at any time with or without food. It is active for 24 hours.

A pharmacist should be able to tell you if it's ok..

or...

You should call your Doctor. I work as a medical practice coder..but one thing I do know is that professionals are careful about giving advice about this sort of thing..if your not their patient and something happened to you they could be held liable..even through Y/A.
