Your going to group session to work on your depression. Don't lose track of why your there. She's there for similar reasons, and for some reason she's home-sick. I recommend you focus on your issues, and let her be. You yourself know the UK is a great place, just be content with that. It's great to have pride in your home country. Our family too is very patriotic and proud to be here in the US. So I understand how it's easy to jump to defend your home land. Just don't lose site of why your there.

How many children leaving school can read and write to the correct levels?
How many children have died in 2007 as a result of guns/knives etc?
How many people are on the NHS waiting lists?
Why do we pay tax at the levels we do with additional "stealth" taxes?
Why is our fuel the dearest in the western world?
Why can our government not clearly identify how many foreign workers are in this country?
Why are our Prisons overcrowded to the point where we release rapists and paedophiles early (or at all)
GREAT Britain ????? Not really, patriotism can only go so far, the country is a shambles.
Perhaps it is not right some one else comes here to "bleed" what they can from the tax payer and moan about how bad the country is and want to return however, take the blinkers off and look around you.

I think the UK is a sh1t place to bring up children. My daughter is seriously suffering at the hands of this stiff crappy culture. She was confident and happy before she was subjected to it.
I plan to leave this hell hole as soon as I get the chance.
Denmark is actually a very good place for children, and they are generally alot happier there.
Also, she obviously has lived in the 2 places, you have not. So, she is better placed to make a comparison than you are. Accept her opinion. If you want to find out if it's true, go to Denmark and see.

The UK has changed over the past years, certainly I feel when I grew up was good, I could happily play outside relatively safely, education was different then too. I have a kid now and feel he will miss out on some things I took for granted, don't know if education will be as good etc.
Different countries have different attitudes - if I had the opportunity, I'd get out of UK too. With seemingly alarming regularity there are reports of kids being killed with guns/knives, kids fear the outdoors and sit at home playing computer games etc, this country sucks to bring up kids.
Sounds like she was just stating a fact.

I can understand what you are saying, and it's true, people do come over here to get a better education and take what's going then go back to their own countries. It's something Britain should be addressing.
However, I don't think you should let yourself get stressed over other people if you suffer from depression anyway. It's easily said as I suffer from depression too, so I know it's hard not to let things that other people think unimportant, get to you but you must try.
Hope you feel better soon and that your sessions otherwise help you.

This happens a lot, foreigners get what they want from us then moan and say its a crap country. I believe we should deport these people and maybe take some of her money. However, the UK is controversial atm when bringing up children, shootings stabbings etc. However, overall its a decent privelaged environment to live in. And The Alien sounds like an american scumbag

Don't take it personally. Everyone thinks that the place they grew up was the perfect place for their children, with the exception of people who grew up in a ghetto. I have to agree, however, that it's pretty rude to talk down a country in front of the natives.
