Hi All,

I have a Canon PowerShot S1 IS. I happened to drop it on floor (in my defence, on a soft floor :-)).

Now it does not work anymore. When i switch it on, it shows the blank screen. If I take a photo, it captures the image all blank (black). So basically I can’t take any photos anymore.

Has anybody faced such problem; any remedies? Or is it the same known issue of CCD? http://www.canon-asia.com/index.jsp?fuseaction=image-phenomena_notice

Additional Information: All other functions like erase, etc. do work well and appear properly on the screen. I also can see the Canon logo when I turn on the camera. I guess that means that the LCD display is working properly.

Gravity and water are the leading killers of digital cameras.

R.I.P. Canon PowerShot S1 IS. You can now use it as a paperweight since repairs for damage from abuse aren't covered by the warranty. Repair, at your expense, will likely exceed the cost of a new camera.

You may now begin shopping for your new camera.

i guess the best thing you can do is try sending it to canon to see of it's covered under warranty... don't tell them it was drooped.. :)
