If you have the knack your own business is good ,but if you don't or if you're a spendthrift a job would be a better choice, its your own personality and attitude you have to check first.

Answer A:
with a JOB it can be hard to become rich
same as with OWN business
but in the end if you have a JOB, you will always have to work for money, for life, and the question becomes 'will you be able to work on a JOB as good as you do now for the rest of your life?'
as you get older your quality of work decreases, and the amount of expenses increases (medication for example)

on todays standards people can work on a JOB and have a OWN business at the same time

extra: so lets organize the possibilities...

If you have a JOB and work badly, you get little money constantly searching for a job, getting better eventually, and end up having money trouble all the time

If you have a JOB and work good, you get a lot of money, have a big saving account, and when your old and retired, you will only be able to use the money you saved, so if you retire when your 60 and live 30 years more, will your saving and government pay be enough for 30 years?

If you OWN a business that does bad, you close it loose all and en up living on the streets, you live, and think (which is the hard part of business) and when your retired, you only have the government to support you

If you OWN a business that does good, you will no longer have to work, at all, and you will still have money until your retired, and you will never need the government to support you.
you will be able to retire as soon as you achieve a complete self sustained business (which depends on how smart you are) and will have money, and free time.

the conclusion
JOB and OWN business both have more or less the same bad side, where you loose all

while on the good side
JOB is good, but not too good
OWN a business is just great if you do it good

while with a JOB you will have to work a lot to get a lot
while OWNing a business you have to think a lot to get a lot

Answer B:
Step 1:
ok, I assume you are about 40 years old, and you have worked alot on a job.
But recently you suddenly realized that the job might not fit you, and you ask the public here on yahoo answers for advice.
This in turn already answers the question, you SHOULD start a business, because you already want to.
Step 2:
now its time to take action, remember to own a business is a loose term, it can mean anything, from having a website that brings you money, to selling shoes on the streets, to being a oil company billionaire, or a computer technology multi-millionaire.
TIP: you can start the business in your spare time, normal working hours are 8 hours a day, so you have (24 - 8sleep + 8 work) and you have 8 more hours to rest eat and maybe work on your extra little business, that will definitely bring you something in the future.
So the answer to your question is yes.
start the business, as a part time activity, until you feel like quitting your job, and making it full time.

JOB stands for Just Over Broke. A Job simply brings you to the point of survival and just giving up your JOB will leave you in a state of poverty.

In a job, you're working in the wage system- exchanging time for money. so you could only ever earn according to the amount of hours in a day. In business you are in the profit system which means there is NO limit to what you can earn in a day! Profits are better than wages (Jim Rohn).

Whilst having a stable job may seem less risky, at any point you run the risk of being downsized, or fired, or bullied, or capped in your JOB. And this isn't taking into consideration the amount of taxes you have to pay as an employee. There are far more tax breaks as a business owner.

Additionally there are less and less pension plans and benefits in jobs so they are becoming increasingly risky themselves.

If the world is a risky place, I say build a business. No one can work harder than you, for you. If you want financial freedom, if you want time for your family, if you want to feel true success, set yourself free.

Build businesses!

See you at the top!

You have been employed for a long time and it needs a lot of courage to move out of the comfort zone and set up your own business. But if you have good contacts, have some special skills or products / services to offer and if you also have enough financial resources or get backers, do consider going into your own business.

Your own business, even if you're making half as much.

I'm surpirsed at how many people below disagree and are confused about this. In my opinion, many have become rather socialized and dependent like sheep. They want to be taken care of, want to remain in their comfort zones, want to watch football and American Idol in their spare time and don't have a lot of character, to put it bluntly.

Also, you don't have to have a "rich background." You can't be that young. How old are going to be before you open your own business, 80?

Look, at least do something on your own part time. I don't have much money and I'm even doing that. Why has no one mentioned it?

Dear,

It is not important that which is better ? Service ? Or Business ?

At your age you should have first chosen your career of your own choice.
Better living with full of enjoyment is possible only when you select your career of your own choice at an early age.

In career point of view, one should have an AIM in his or her life. AIM has to be decided in student life. AIM should be based on interest only.Do not select your AIM by advises given free of cost.

Do not select your AIM for earning money point of view.

If you are able to get everything what you want, you are successful.

What is LIFE ?

L = Living with, I = Interest, F= Freedom and E= Enjoyment.

and Money will follow you.

So do what you really want to do.

Best of luck.

Job is better. Business will screw ur daily life. You will not be able to enjoy social life. I have experienced both the sides and have decided to do JOB.

If you have lots of money and need to start your own business for a mere activity then its good. Otherwise business is always risky.

If your needs are too much, you should opt for business. In job you will get limited amount to fulfill your needs. You can manage if your needs are genuine and limited. But in today's world people need everything. For that you should work hard and earn a lot.

Own business definitely....
You can work at your own terms and delegate the rest to others!
Especially since you have the experience behind you, the best option would be to run your own firm....
