Your payroll is taxed on what your employer pays you, not on what you have in the bank.

If you have money in a savings account, then you can be taxed on the interest it earns because that is technically income.

If you have a simple checking account, that money has already been taxed so there are no taxes due on it.

True, as long as you are referring to the amount of the paycheck! If you're referring to gross pay then no, that is not true.
