so what i seem to hear a lot is that to submit to the will of god = muslim.
so that would make jesus a muslim by technical definition ( to a muslim ) but not by identity? hmmm.
Thanks for all the thoughtful answers! I just never heard of that before so thank you for explaining it!

No Ellen ... Jesus is not a Muslim.
he is a prophet sent by the God as you know ... and he is also believed to know that there will be a Muslim Prophet will come after him and his name is Ahmed.
(you have to know Ellen That Prophet Mohamed has also Lot of names Like: Ahmed, Taha, Abu El Kasem .... )
so both of them are prophets, but Mohamed is Muslim and Jesus is Christian.
i hope that was useful.
and also i agree with Rayhan.

Hi I think the muslims explain that that he and all the christians were muslims - following the word of Allah until the Mohhamad. since the mohhamad, the newer, "updated" word of allah is valid, and from that time only the ones believing in Quran are the muslims. But at the times of the Jesus, he is considered a messenger of God and his followers muslims...
Vice versa, many medieval Christian thinkers considered the Islam not a specific religion, but a heresis from the Christianity. I.e. that muslims were not the pagans, but heretics.

I'm not sure what all the this guy is asking. Islam started some 600 years after Christianity that is why the Koran speaks directly about not discussing specific Christian doctrines that can convert Muslims. For instance, the Deity of Christ. However they do believe in the imminent return of Jesus to bring Judgment on all nations so it's kind of confusing for some Muslims to trust Allah but believe Jesus is coming back and that Jesus is not who Christians say He is. I can see why bro is confused.

No matter what anyone or any other religon says Jesus was born and died JEWISH.
Islam says a lot of things that haven't changed in a 1000 years. Except for the revisionists trying to justify religon with history.

No. Wrong.
Jesus was raised as a Jew. And then he started his teachings when he was about the age of 30. That was when Christianity started: with the baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist.

Jesus isn't around to defend himself, so apparently you can claim him to be anything you want.
On that note, Benjamin Franklin is a Lord of Rock. Like other rockstars he hung around with loose women, drank alcohol, had std's and was influential to young minds. Thats why I have him on the wall next to Gene Simmons and Muhammad, the Great Gods of Rock and Roll!

There is a piece of fractured thinking embraced by some Muslims that goes something like this:
God, (Allah), is the first cause and originator of everything.
The God of Islam is the only true God.
Therefore Islam is one with the first and originator of everything.
Therefore Islam predates and underlies all religions.
Members of other religions, of course, disagree. And quite right too!

This is fiddlesticks. Islam comes much after Christianity, and the claim of Jesus being a Muslim is unfonded. Actually JHesus was a Jew, and what the prophet mohammad used to be remains a question to be looked into. Islam itself is a syntheis of many religions from Judaism through christianity to Hindusim.

Of course Muslims can identify Mohammed with Jesus and call Jesus a Muslim. He was a good man, a prophet like Mohammed, helped people and taught them truths. However, when it comes to claiming that Jesus is God and resurrected from the dead - that is when Jesus ceases to be a Muslim.
