Why do I have to label myself to make people comfortable? …The act of the sex is homosexuality, but I don't want to get caught up in the whole gay/bi culture, because the media and people look at gay people as being less than a man. I am a man. My marriage wasn't a lie, because I love my wife, she was my best friend, we were running partners. What was a lie about the marriage was my desire to have sex with other men. I did not reveal that to her because I was scared.

I personally believe that people choose to be gay. I couldn't possibly be for sure because I am straight myself, but it is my opinion that it is a chosen thing. I am not sure why it hit you so late in life. Have you ever been attracted to the same sex before? Or is this all very new to you? I think that since a lot of people have started accepting homosexuality there have been a lot of people get confused about there own sexuality and then get curious, and try it. I don't really know. I think that you should be careful, and pray to God for answers. Good Luck!

Well, they are right. you don't have to label yourself. and you don't really have to explain yourself to others especially those whose opinions don't really matter (to you). But I guess you should just be ready to accept that people do and will always put labels on other people.

As Don Miguel Ruiz said in his book THE FOUR AGREEMENTS -- "Dont take anything personally.Nothing others do is because of you. What people say and do are a projection of their own reality, their own dreams. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you will not be the victim of needless suffering."

What's important is that you know you are and you're comfortable with you who are. So stay happy my friend :)

Hey... you dont HAVE to label yourself anything at all. There's no gay law that says you must register as an OUT member.

Something else you dont HAVE to do is feel all that guilt about your orientation.

You want to pretend to the public you are straight? Feel free.
You want to keep your sex life in the closet? Go ahead.

and one last thing.. you shouldnt have felt scared to tell your wife.. you could have gotten by on shame alone.. shame for not having the bollocks to tell her before marrying her.

there wont be a stop to that label for a really long time, because it hasn't been even close to long enough for people to get used to people coming out...this is like a new thing for people in the past about 20/30 years...

Moe, you do not have to lable yourself as anything but a person, what other people want you to say is irrelevant, when they ask you , just say you are a person like themselves, with a free mind. Maybe they like chocolate you don't maybe they like pickled pigs feet you don't, maybe you like getting up early and they don't. Those are decisions that we indvidually make, and it is NOBODY's business

peace out

People have a tendency for lables... what isnt labled, scares them(what you dont know you are afraid of).
if you dont conform to these lables, they will fear and hate you.

THE ANSWER IS "RELIGION" and society. They both force us to lable things, when we really don't have to.
