Yes, because people are ignorant and they have nothing else better to do. Mostly it is because they have no beliefs themselves and they feel good insulting what other people believe in. They need to get a life period!

Just as you don't like people insulting and disrespecting your beliefs I can't stand how so many people come from the Religion and Spirituality forum and come and try to tell me and others like me that I'm going to hell because of who I am.
I am a bisexual male. I love Jesus, read the Bible and I know exactly what it says. I hate it when people pick and pull certain verses out and manipulate it. I've lived a very rough life and have seen God do amazing things in my life and through me. You must remember Moses was a murderer, David was a womanizer and a murderer, Jesus is actually a decendant of a prostitute, Paul had believers killed and sent to jail at his command before he was converted.
If you don't like being disrespected read about Paul and Silas in Acts 16 when they went to jail. Read about Peter. Read Isaiah 53 where he fortells of the death of Jesus. Want to hear about disrespect, there it is.
Stop complaining and grow up.
Even in the GLBT community bisexuals are even treated differently by many because of various reasons. Just as the Methodist, Catholics, and Baptist view each other differently.
Life is not fair. Jesus said you WILL go through trials and tribulations.

Nah. I get a little tired of it, but in all honesty, I must be a masochist because I keep coming back for more.
Seriously though, I think the good points in R&S (the cool people, the funny and thought-provoking questions, the drinking and roaming games, and the way everyone comes together when one of us is in trouble, regardless of religion) more than makes up for the crap on here.
I just report the ones that are gratuitously vulgar, and leave the rest. People can say whatever they want. Doesn't bother me one way or the other.

To be honest, if people stopped writing disrespectful or uninformed things about atheists, I would probably not bother with this forum anymore. As long as I see assertions that need to be corrected, I'll keep showing up.

No because I don't waste my time arguing theological points which can never be proved nor disproved. Religious or philosophical belief is a personal matter, and I find it hypocritical of anyone who professes belief in a doctrine which espouses kindness to be so disrespectful to others in the posts here.

You know, eric.. you should come over to the Gay and Lesbian category sometime... hang out and watch the religious ...er... people... do what they do best... disrespect us.. insult us.. and in graphic detail tell us how we are going to spend eternity.
What can WE do about it??
Maybe we should learn to leave each other alone... ?
Maybe we should mind the logs in our own eyes before working on the stick in our "brother's", eh?

Raising a question about you want to have opinions, is acceptable, but repect should be well taken care of. I have found many questions those do ridicule and insult the peculiar religion and sacred entity.
Please please respect other relegions.Only ask questions to clear ur point of view, open mindedly.

Its annoying, but its part of the price of participating in an open forum. Besides, USENET was far, far worse (being entirely unmoderated). If you don't want to hear dissenting opinions, feel free to start your own yahoo group, invite your favorite friends, and spend the time to moderate it.
If the insults cross a certain line though, I would report them.

In the good old days, religious fundies had more power and they were able to torture and burn alive whoever dared pointing a finger in the direction of delusional and religious superstitions and voicing a more sensible vision of the world.
Today, thanks to public school and education, in every modern civilized countries, religious superstitions are quietly fading away.
I guess you just have to live with it dear.

There's nothing that can be done about it. This is the internet and we get to deal with the lowest common denominator of society every 30 seconds or so.
