Or should you only have a baby shower for your first baby?

LORD you people are nasty! I am the one who's pregnant.

NO, I am not throwing my own shower.

It used to be tradition to only have a shower for the firstborn. I was wondering if times had changed.

What are you all? 13 years old??

Tmarie - That is what my mom said and what made me post this question. She said that when she was in her 20s and 30s people just did not dream of having a shower for every baby.

This is my first baby so it doesn't really pertain to me at all. I was just wondering how many people are traditional when it comes to this.

No, it's not proper. It's mooching.

I wouldn't attend more than one shower for someone.

I don't think it is improper to have a shower for second or third babies; however, it is probably best to limit the guest list to very close family members, very close friends, and perhaps people who have not given gifts for other babies.

I really didn't need a shower for my second baby. Between the items I had for my first child, and hand me downs from other relatives and friends, I was pretty well set. My second baby did get a few gifts from relatives and very close friends, but we didn't do a shower.

Yes if your friends give you the shower then go and enjoy the fun. Now if you are the mother of the Druggers clan ( she is at baby 16)., you might be getting just a card not a present from me.

That depends on your friends, as proper etiquette holds that showers are given by friends, not by the expectant mother (or bride if a bridal shower) or her family.

If your friends want to hold a shower for your second, third, or seventeenth baby, there is nothing ill-mannered about it.

And yes, times have changed, according to the multiple etiquette sites I checked before answering this question.

As to the rude people, just ignore them, sweetie. And may you have a healthy and wonderful baby! :)

I guess...dont see why not.....I have older 2 cousin's that it seems like all they do is have kids......and baby showers.....once one of my other cousin's gave one of them at a shower some contraceptives, condoms, spermicide....when every one saw it ....everyone busted out laughing....I have to admit ....it was very funny....and kinda of what I was thinking......but every time I get a invitation to a shower from one of these 2 ...I always go but I think my gifts get less expensive last time I just gave them a $50.00 gift certificate.....

Usually you only have one. When there are a lot of years in between the kids another is sometimes given. I would save everything with each child until you are sure that you are not going to have anymore. Congratulations!

if you don't want them to grow up to be dirty, then i recommend you yes!, what if your baby finds out he never had a baby shower but his older sister did? that would totally not be cool, and unparent like

Why not? Are you jealous of her? She's having a BABY... another HUMAN BEING... celebrate with her instead of being hateful.
