Does she look sick in any other way shape or form? If yes, she may have mark’s disease which can effect the eyes. If this is possible do not introduce her to your flock because it is very contagious. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marek's_disease

If not she could just be blind. If you think that she is going to have it very rough the best thing may be to put her down.

For now I suggest putting her in a cage by herself just to be sure. If you think she needs a boast give her vitamin water mixes or sugar water. 1 tablespoon of sugar per gallon. As for bedding I don’t suggest sawdust since she could be part blind and mistake it for food. I also don’t suggest newspaper because it is slippery. Grass or straw would hid her food unless it was put in a dish and in that case she could tip over the dish. Instead I suggest using a rough towel or paper towels.

If she continues to live and seems healthy it should be fine to introduce her to the flock. But, also since her eye is red the chickens may peck at her and cause farther damage.

Whatever the case I hope she gets better.

this is a website on poultry eye disorters

You will have to scroll down to get to the eye section because they list parts of the body that has problems. If you notice anything else strange about your bird you may want to look it up under here and see if it is really the same sickness.

Buffs are very pretty. If the chicken is blind, you can't do anything. But you may want to post your question in the pets category, you may get some better answers there.

It has probably got in a fight with something (and lost). Do you have other hens; sometimes they fight and try to peck each other's eyes out. You should take it to the vet to make sure she isn't suffering, but I don't know if he will be able to fix the problem.
