I believe in God because the evidence convinces me of the truth of Christianity.
I used to be an atheist.

I was brought up in a strict religion .When I became a teenager and moved out of home I soon lost my interest in religion , you know what it's like women ,money ,fun ,drinking and so on.
The thing is as I am getting older many things I was taught from the bible way back in the 60s/70s I can how see have come true or I can see happening.
I still do not study the bible or go to any religious meetings but I think I may start soon.
People make fun of god and the bible as I am guilty of but thinking about it I think deigning it is just fooling yourself.

How many times have I heard this question! lol
Here are some reasons:
1. IF there is an eternal life, don't you want it?
2. Because other religions aren't as fulfilling. None use the words "Peace" and "Love" half as much.
3. Because there is no other valid explanation for the endless reaches of space that exist all around our tiny planet of life.
4. Because the Bible is completely historically acurate.
5. Because when my brother was a baby, he had an extremely high fever and we were hours from a doctor. My family prayed over him and his temperature dropped so noticeably that you could FEEL it.
MIracles are cheezy, but they happen ALL the time. News agencies won't tell you about this or about the pastors imprisoned in China, or anything involving chrisitanity because it's sooooo unworldly!

He has blessed my life. Kept me and everyone in my Battlion safe while deployed to Iraq. GOD answers Prayer Thats the reason.
And to the response by other answers here that without the bible there wouldnt be a christian faith today. I would say this
first Christ was part of the New testament. Secondly Abrahram was approched by God. God appeared to him and said, "I am Almighty God; walk in My ways and be blameless, and I will make a covenant between Me and you, and will multiply you greatly" So since your not wanting the bible in there I guess you can take that from the Torah then.

1. I was raised to believe in God
2. Most world religions believe in a Creator of some sort (whether a trinity or a duo, or named Yahweh or Allah or Great Spirit). Something or someone must've created us. See also the arguments for intelligent design. I do not rule out evolution as a tool of the Creator.
3. I find the Bible to be a credible source. Since humans were involved in its documentation and editing (see under Council of Trent and link to Biblical Canon below), I do not think it is entirely flawless, but overall, I believe it is historically accurate, and divinely inspired. (Were it not a credible source, it would not matter to me what it said.)
4. I believe there are forces that exist outside what science is capable of proving. Some paranormal forces are affected by the presence or absence of faith. Forces of this nature are unlikely to be scientifically confirmable by atheists or skeptics, since real faith is impossible to fake.
5. I have experienced answers to prayer in my life and in answer to prayers of people around me. I believe prayer is one of those forces as described in #4.
6. I choose to believe in a Creator that cares about me, and about life on this earth. I find the alternative depressing.

I cant imagine a life without God, how can a person live life knowing that when they die, they just disappear. God takes away my fear of death and provides me with a goal which i can only achieve by following good morals and ethics and by living life to it's fullest extent. God provides me with the faith and the beleif that no matter what i do in my life, i will always be watched over and guided. People who deny the belief of a God or of any sort of afterlife, are the people who must live life without faith and without hope of eternal life.

Try being an atheist in a physics department where the guy teaching "modern" used to swap time between Los Alamos and Leningrad, and the department head was a world renowned particle physicist, at the time the youngest person to get a doctorate degree in physics in the history of UT and both are also local church leaders... You'll learn that it takes a lot more faith to remain an atheist against the weight of evidence FOR God.

There is no scientific or logical reason to explain the existence of God.We would have to be elevated to God's level to understand Him. Which we cannot do.So you are left with two choices. You either believe in God ,because no explanation is necessary, or you do not believe in God ,because no explanation is possible.I believe in God.

When I was a small child I lived in a old old house.
My Mother wanted to go to KU at the time for medical purposes and medical education We moved shortly after we moved the house had burnt down and before he burnt down their apparently was a murderer who broke into it, I know because my brother jimmy moved in right after I did but at the time of this occurance they was no where near home. I believe God saved me. because if I didn't move out that would of been my stuff burnt and I would of most likely been home when the killer guy broke in. In High school I was failing straight f's and I was kicked out and sent to a troubled kid school their I passed and Matured and it was their I found God. I had asked God to send me someone to tell me that he cares and shortly after a teacher arrived that happened to be a pastor and he is the best pastor iv ever known he showed me god cares. Plus I see the world and I cant but help see this didnt happen by randomness.. Plus since I become a believer I can handle trials alot better. And people want physical proof of him look at the beauty of the animals and world. and just think all that you love and have is because God gave it to you. All my life I have only known rejection sorrow and Anger. But God knows this And has allowed it to happen because what I have been through I am pretty good at accepting everybody. and I write and talk about things no one else talks about. that has to be coming from God. about all the bad things happen I know all about that I have had many bad things happen to me and im aware of all the rest of the bad things in the world but if your a father you should know your kids will not always please you and many times will upset you or disappointed you it is the same with God., and just like a god dad he loves his kids weather they are troubled or not. and take it from me I used to go back in forth with my faith and free will he gives us the free will to do what we wish either it be evil or good if he didnt he would not be God and he would be a lier. and sometimes people do things that hurt other people thats where the bad is coming from all the diseases were made by pollution's or certain byproducts man made. stuff of that sort. I am also born with a disabilbility called cp, And if I didnt have this disability of mine I doubt I would of ever matured any. but became a snob. a stuck up one.

Believe is to accept something we read or heard, without personal experience.
So I don't believe, it is not because it is written on the Bible or any book or someone told me to accept it.
He made me understand about the difference between the material bodies (physical, mental, intellectual) with the soul and the Nature and Himself when I most needed and also He answered many more questions, in practical way for me.
