becuase they are just plain ignorant and selfish.....they dont want to have to obey Him. they want to be able to do what they want and not worry about consequences but the truth is by not believing they are gonna deal with the biggest consequence of all....eternal damnation!

Tinkerbell just threatened us with hellfire. "That's like taking an invisible baseball bat and swinging it at my head." - Rabidape.
If God is all knowing then he would understand why we don't believe in Him and forgive us.
If God is omnipotent (all powerful) then why doesn't he end suffering?
If He already knows what will happen then why did he start it all in the first place? What I'm getting at is that he created everything, and that means everything good and EVIL. So God himself isn't completely good. He made the angel that became satan who created hell so God basically made satan and hell which, in turn, already knew was gonna happen. Why?
On top of that God wants us to worship Himself. If we don't then we won't go to heaven. That's a little childish don't you think? But He already knows who is going to heaven or hell because He's all-knowing, remember? So why does free choice even exist?
Jesus says "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one will come to the father except through me."
Then God says "And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven." Luke 12:10
That's contradictory and quite a paradox. I guess you have to cover all your bases just in case they find out Jesus isn't real.
To say that we, as atheists, douse you with our beliefs is entirely wrong considering that 84% of americans believe in some sort of "God." Atheists are among the most hated groups and are less liked than homosexuals according to recent survey.
Is that enough reason for atheists to feel threatened?
Is that enough cause for us to speak up?
Look up "Carl Sagan Pale Blue Dot" on youtube and realize how small we really are and how important Christians (and other religions) fantasize about their importance in this universe. And if you don't know who Carl Sagan is then you should do some research.
We don't matter to the universe. We only matter to each other.

What an idiotic question. Of course we have something to loose if we choose to believe in an omnipotent being that essentially controlls our life.
As a non believer, I don't cower in the corner every time someone questions my beliefs, I objectively debate them and evolve.
As a non believer, I know there is nothing lurking around the corner that is coming to get me.
As a non believer, I have complete freedom in my decissions and base them on my logic and my morals and ethics.
As a non believer, when something goes wrong, I don't blame god or fate, I take complete responsibility.
As a non believer, when something goes right, I can take complete responsibility for setting the right wheels in motion.
As a believer, you have no freedom, no choice, no life. Religious superstition and dogma dominate every fiber of your being, and all because you chose to believe something that doesn't make logical sense.
What do you want out of life? Do you want to live, or serve.

A moral deity would not want to be worshiped.
An immoral deity should not be worshiped even if he demands it.
If atheists are wrong about the existence of God, that would only matter if God actually wants to be worshiped. If that is the case, atheists have made the right choice by refusing to do so.
Why do you worship a blatantly immoral deity?

So you're suggesting we live (what we believe to be) a lie, just in case we're wrong?
If we believe there is no God, why would we worry about what would happen if we're wrong?
The thing you have to remember is most atheists are good people who lead moral lives even by Christian standards. If we're wrong and we're judged on whether we believed rather than how we lived, most of us would rather go to hell.
Let's flip it around. Why are their so many believers when if there is no God, it will turned out they wasted their life and missed many opportunities.

You are right; Jesus said in the bible that there will be people trying to enter life who will not be able to.
2 Thes 2:2-12 says that in the last days satan will use every form of wicked deceit on the world; this is why there are so many unbelievers. Satan knows his time is short and he is working overtime preparing the earth for this arrival. He is pounding on us as Christians like never before and he is hard after the world right now. He wants as many as possible to bow down to him when he shows up. He goes after the weak because it takes little effort. He goes after baby Christians because they are not deeply rooted and grounded in the truth yet so he won't have to make as hard an effort to pull them up.
We need to pray for the baby Christians that they will mature quickly and be able to do the standing that Eph 6:10-20 says.

That's like only doing your chores because you'll get an allowance, not because your room is filthy and it's the right thing to do. Believing in God simply so if He does exist you'll get to go to Heaven is ridiculous - searching out your own personal truth as it relates, or doesn't, to God makes far more sense.

yes...that's Pascal's Wager
here's the Atheist's wager
You should live your life and try to make the world a better place for your being in it, whether or not you believe in God. If there is no God, you have lost nothing and will be remembered fondly by those you left behind. If there is a benevolent God, he may judge you on your merits coupled with your commitments, and not just on whether or not you believed in him.
basically IF there is a God....a Just and Merciful God....then atheist's wager will prevail....
If there is a God....and he'd rather judge us by whether or not we believed in him rather than our deeds and intentions....then i'd still make my choice to not believe....because that kind of God isn't much of a God

But . . . Its all a fairytale. Why will I spend my energy on a 'what if?' I prefer dealing with what is real and what can be proven.
You tell me to believe in God, another will tell me to believe in in Buddha, Krishna, Zeus and so on.
Life's too short to waste my time on such stories.

Is that what passes for christian "thought?" You just believe in stuff because you have "nothing to lose?" Sorry, maybe I'm just silly, but I think I'll stick to believing in things for which there is some evidence.
