What do you mean? Like how big, or what kind of style? What kind of base do you have?

I was recently told by a lamp salesperson to bring the lamp into the store and try some shades on, see what fits. I have about 5 lamps that Id love to get different shades for, but who can afford that!

Think about the style of the lamp and get a shade that goes with it, not so much the room. the color can go with the room, but color shades sometimes dim the room. For instance, you wouldn't want a dark shade in a kitchen, you would want something like frosted glass, maybe something dark in a hang out room, bedroom, etc.

But...sometimes, when you have a certain kind of lamp and you get the totally opposite shade of what it should have...like a vintage, antique type of base with a modern, simple shade, that would look cool.

Take it to Lamps Plus, they have tons of styles for really, not that much.
