Bill Walten the retired pro basket ball player use to stutter.
His son now plays for the LA Lakers.
Try Googling him for answers.
There was a country and western (male) singer that stuttered when he talked but not when he sang.
Mel Tillus--think that 's his name.
Try practice singing into a microphone.
Or try karaoke singing.
My wife just came into the room and told me that there was some news today about stuttering on ABS news Chanel 7 LA California. Try going to there web site to see if you can get the info. My wife said the guy on TV was cured and gave a long speech.

You are looking for a quick fix. A pill, surgery, anything to make this easier. I appreciate your pain and frustration.
The reality is that you are going to have to WORK to control your stutter. Yes...work. You need to reprogram the synapses coming from your brain to your mouth and right now there is no quick fix. It involves work and repetition, etc.
Now all that being said, some people can't get past their stutters no matter what they try. I'm not sure why that is, but I hope you can. And if you can't then you will just have to live with this issue.
So if you really are tired of being laughed at, if you are tired of struggling to do the simplest things, then find a speech therapist and get to work. There won't be a magical bullet from outside of you. YOU are the magic bullet.

My brothers and I stuttered. After we were able to keep away from our parents, the stuttering stopped. Working at the age of 12 helped, I babysat a lot and did not have to be around the abusive home. My baby brother was given away. My mother (off and on) raised 6 children. She did not like children. My baby brother was abused by his foster parents and told that we did not love him. I found him when he was 34 years old. He was told the truth and decided that he would have been abused with us also. In other word, there may be issues that cause you to stutter. If shrinks won't help when you get upset, ask yourself when you started feeling that way and you may just find the answers. You are a good person. Baby brother did stop after learning the truth.

There is a device that was made quite a few years ago. It looks just like a hearing aid, but it's for people who stutter. They did testing with it, and though it didn't "cure" them, many found that it did a great job, lowering the amount they stuttered. The link below is the first thing that came up on Google.

Your question is very sincere and I hope the answer is yes, positively yes. But, stuttering is also a most valuable ploy of politicians, along with tap-dancing, and unfortunately will go on as long as there's an office to run for.
I'm kidding about them, of course, and believe that a remedy will be found in the research of the speech center in the brain. As you indicate your wish for a cure, it probably is being worked on in places like the speech center in Houston. But may be a long pull, as the answer may even be in a maverick gene.
You're twenty, so you'll naturally grow into a more mature crowd that will accept your stuttering just as mature adults accept other disabilities. Until that cure comes along, I'm sure you're working on your own improvement and with that I wish you the most success.
When someone cringes (seemingly) at your affliction, please do not hesitate to take his/her arm gently and say, smilingly, something to the effect, "Please bear with me. I'll get it out." Between you and me, I've never been bothered by a person's stuttering, particularly if they're not self-conscious and seemingly share the 'humorous' aspects of it. (I KNOW its not funny) ... I'm just saying ...it can be kind of cute ... and at least for the time being you are who you are, JUST as you are. I'm sure your friends and collegues love you as you are and are pulling for you. If you'll believe that, much of the stress has to go away. Good Wishes, DEAR.

The last thing i want to do is upset you .But the more you think about it the more self conscious you get and the more self conscious you are the more your going to stutter
maybe you could try joining a class or group that focuses on self confidence
i know its not nice but sometimes we have to learn to live with things I went partially deaf after an accident and if i need to deal with strangers i have to ask them to keep repeating what they say because i can`t understand them I Used to cringe at the thought of having to talk to strangers ,So i`m sort of in the same boat but the confidence building really does help

There is a fellow by the name of Mel Tillis who stuttered all his life. Strange how he discovered he didn't stutter when he sang. Has been known and awarded many times for his number one hits. Country/western singer. I did see him in a film where he still stuttered but was many years ago. May find his link online and find out what he did to remedy it or, was the singing all that it took.
He just got installed into the country hall of fame and was pretty funny in his delivery to the audience. He doesn't stutter anymore.

I know that people have had success "curing" stuttering, so keep looking! There ARE ways, but I am sure they take time and dedication and probably money.
I think the less you stress out about it, the better things will be. I am sure you feel embarrassed, but people should not be laughing at you! That's SO mean! If I had "friends" like that, I would serioulsy reconsider whether they were worth my time and energy. They don't sound like good friends at all.
Good luck!
