The War to end all Wars was WWI. WWII had none I ever heard. There were code names for operations, invasions. Nicknames for tanks, aircraft, groups of people (Jerry, Jap), food,(SOS, mystery meat). Navy Ships (LST=long slow target)
Try searching on equipment and people.
