Is there anyway i could dullen them or use a farbic around them to make them look good and dullen them? Could someone reccoemnd a flame resistent fabric that looks like silk that would be great for this purpose? Please help!

Couldn't you just use a lower wattage bulb. Or is it a special base with limited options (I hate those).

I take it they're floorlamps? either change the shades,the bulbs,or as you're thinking,use some fabric (not something that may be affected by the heat of the bulb,or are you ahead of the game with CFL's?) good luck...

use a lower watt - softer lighting bulb - these new energy saving bulbs are always a lot dimmer than they claim - that's if they will fit

Do you mean the actual globe is too bright?? If so, get new globes with a smaller watt rating...

40 watts are perfect for them! Try it!

and hot glue
