I know I have to sand and prime them first...I just am looking for color ideas and some accent ideas?

what color are the walls in the room? glossy white goes with anything an enamel paint should do the trick or for a more elegant look a dark stain or black enamel paint mixed with linseed oil and mineral spirits(1 part each)

Decorative moulding and fabric believe me look so elegant ot modern depends on what your flavor is go to
HGTV and look at some of the shows , good ones are Design on a dime or Decorating Cents they are all good .

Don't know what the furniture looks like now, but I like the color "Crabby Apple" by Sherwin Williams, and then you could a stencil in a light color, like "roman column."
