I am not a religious zealot, running around in your face dancing with snakes and all that, so why do so many people get angry when I make a comment about my belief in God? I don't tell you who to believe in.

Ok, I'm not saying everyone is angry, but it seems to make some people very angry, just wanted to know why. Any like I said earlier, it doesn't bother me what others believe.

Whats the deal about the laws? I don't have anything to do with making laws, all I have ever done is break them. Besides there is supposed to be a separation of church and state, not my fault the government can't understand what separation means.
By the way, I don't have a problem with people who are gay, atheist, agnostic, muslim, buddist, or what ever. I DON'T EVEN GO TO CHURCH.
This was my point, I don't preach religion to nonbelievers, I don't care what you do, who you do it with or where you do it (unless it involves children and thats another subject). I'm not a good Christian, but I do believe in God and for some reason this one simple fact seems to piss some people off. Just wanted an explanation as to why this is.

I would imagine most people become angry when confronted with things they cannot or will not understand. I, however, think it is great when people are honest.

I'm not angry. You somehow feel threatened by people who have different beliefs from you. Maybe its because religions often consider people of different (or no) faiths evil. So you feel the "evil" people are after you.
Plus you mention that you like to comment about your personal belief. Commenting about that will bring that subject into the topic of discussion, which some people are not keen about, given how unpopular and "taboo" some beliefs are in some places. Forcing them to show their cards will definitely not be a nice thing to do.
While your intentions are good, it can be interpreted or mis-interpreted at being preachy or divisive. Religion is not exactly a safe subject for ordinary discussions.

You are right.., belief in Jesus makes people do all sorts of ugly things in your face! Lots of people can allow you to say "god", but when you start saying Jesus, they get angry and indignant, hollering, scorning, critical, mocking, and anything else that will shut you up or push you away..., I mean, generally, people in the marketplace, in the street, etc., unless they are Christians also. It's like it's a word that sets off protest and backlash!
I AM a believer and not ashamed of it, but what you say is very true..., and if anyone tells you truly 'why', I will be amazed. We both KNOW why.

Honestly? It's because most of humankind rejects God contrary to what's deep inside of their core being. Deep down they know He's real but would rather come up with reasons not to believe. So when someone like you says you have a belief in God, you touch on a deeply buried and sensitive root. That makes some people angry.

I think I'm going to write a book about on how the value of 2 is actually equivalent to 2. I shall call it the Bible and have no evidence of 1 being equal to 2 except because I said so. We'll pass it down for thousands of years where nearly no one can interpret my writing for a thousand of years and corrupt people can add stuff to it so when people take this book as truth, they will be gullible and under control of a church. Brilliant!

I'm not mad at you personally... or your belief in god. But people like you use your faith and your religion and your god to pass laws that affect me and MY life (banning gay marriage or now allowing stem cell research using abandoned embryos). THAT makes me quite angry.
EDIT: Perhaps YOU don't do those things we discuss.... but by posting your question the way you did, you become representative of all of the OTHER Christians who DO fight non-believers on these issues. Perhaps as one who is not guilty of these things, you should speak out more against those who do, encourage them to mind their own business and stop asking the government leaders to condone their beliefs with laws. Thanks so much!

It doesn't make me angry I am glad you believe in god. In fact the people who know about god but refuse to believe are committing one of the worst sins and they will find this out in the end when they are sitting in the outer darkness wondering why nobody is bringing them any joy.

It only makes me angry when you parade around saying your religion is the only "true" and "right" way...and all others are works of "Satan"....that's what angers me....and I have a big devotion to my gods and goddesses and don't appreciate my way of living as a way to consort with darkness and evil especially when the person stating such accusations do not fully understand my concept of deity or my belief structure.

They get angry because the truth produces resentment if we want to hang on to our sin. No one gets angry who is thru with sin.
It's the greatest challenge of life; to give up sin; no easy task. We have to be serious and sober if we are to turn to God.
But God loves us so much; and He gives us so much peace, joy, contentment when we surrender to Him and leave our sins. Then one day we look back and we cannot fathom why we were holding onto our sin. We see how we wasted our lives on it.

Providing you keep your religious beliefs out of the political, legal, educational and medical systems, I'm happy for you to believe whatever you wish--in fact I would support and defend your right to do so.
