I don't think God is ever caught 'off guard' so to speak. The scriptures say that hell was prepared for the devil and his angels; but doesn't reference the time or occasion it was 'prepared' for them.
The only way people go there is if they 'choose' the devil as their lord and master. The only thing they don't understand most of the time is to NOT choose Jesus AS Lord, since He was sent for that purpose for mankind; you get the devil as lord by default.., and where your lord and master is, you will be also! Whew.., tell'em ALL about the true Lord and Savior. Hell is there already prepared whether you 'believe' in it or not.
If we 'believers are right', the un-believers are in a heap-a-trouble, as Uncle Remus would say.

Matt. 25:41...Then He will also say to those on the left hand, 'Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels;' "

I know the everlasting fire is separate from Hell, because Rev. 20:14 says, "Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death."

Hell (Hades) would not have been needed if Lucifer hadn't rebelled against God. He rebelled. He tempted Adam and Eve. They sinned. The wages of sin is death. The only way to be reconciled back to God is through Jesus.

God doesn't want to send people to Hell. He created man to commune with Him, but man chose disobedience. God is holy and just. He was gracious enough to offer us a way out of everlasting torment through His Son, Jesus. It's our choice with what we do with that information.

I don't know if Hell was part of His original plan, but I know that God knows everything. He was, is and is to come. I don't believe His "plan" was for man to spend eternity in Hell.

Great question!

Dave C , Your link presents one burning question :
If god is good and merciful why didn't he cast the sinners into hell along time ago and start the sin free , pain free , sorrow free world a long time ago instead of making all us "trying to be good" people suffer ?
Maybe because it's FICTION ? ! ! !
Cholet Diva , so god is disgusted by what he made . Makes him sound like he's not all that pefect !

Yes God is all knowing. If he knew you before you were created and everything to the very last detail of your life, then he knew about Satan. He knew he'd come to heaven, rebel, and be cast out of Heaven to create hell. It is not a part of His perfect will, but is a part of His permissive will.

Not at the beginning. God created Adam and then Eve, they were in Paradise, which would have been our dwelling here on earth, if Eve had not taken about of the forbidden fruit, and then had Adam to take a bite.

Eve's sin punishes the women even today, that is why we have pain when giving birth!

No, Hell was created for the Devil and the angels who followed him in the rebellion against heaven..Isaiah 14: 12-16, Jude 9, Revelation 12:7-11. People that are decieved will follow him there.

Yup because it is God the question is about. God being the "Powerful One", there is always pros and cons when concerned with any kind of power.

No. He made hell because he was repulsed at the human nature. Admit it there's some disgusting people in the world.

It started from the beginning and now it's ending.....

No, when satan tried to get God to make him ruler and asked God to bow to him, the concept of hell was made. It was also only meant for satan and his angels (followers) but it has enlarged itself because of all of the people in this world who follow him as well.
