My mom is not into her grandkids..she doesnt like when her own kids get along...she only lives 2 blocks away and never sees them... she tells everyone her family doesnt care or love her... even though we all tried to prove otherwise but gave up...Dont feel sorry for me.. we are used to her... The problem is she calls a week before xmas asking what to buy the kids and makes a huge deal out of what SHE bought for xmas... I am not taking her gifts this year am I wrong ?

I would still take them even though she has problems my grandma is this way always wanting pity and acts like I'm not greatful for what she's done for me [long story] take 'em and screw what she says you get a gift outta it

There's a saying in Spanish, let's see if I can translate it as closely as possible: "Look at the old, that's what you'll look like; look at yourself, that's what they used to look like." It doesn't really sound right in English, but anyway, what it means is that one day, we'll all get old and probably start doing the exact same stuff -that bothers us so much- they are doing. I know they can be really difficult some times, but try to be tolerant and patient. Accept the gifts she got for your kids; you'll destroy her if you don't. Or is it because she's refusing to be the "Official Babysitter" the real reason for so much anger?

Be the bigger person here. Take the gifts and give her gifts too if you can afford to.
Does she maybe have depression or anxiety issues that make it hard for her to interact with people?
At any rate, do the right thing, even if she doesn't.

does she have any disabilities?
does grandma suffer from pain or financialial woes?
does gramdma have any life of her own.
does grandma have friends that care?
have you looked into what grandma might need latley.
If grandma died tonight
would you care?

It sounds like she has issues, like insecurity or something. Maybe you and your siblings could talk to her doctor, may be depressed for some reason.
