About dermatologist recommendations, they recommend carcinogens to treat pimples. Uh, recommending someone to trade skin cancer for a couple of zits is pretty sick if you ask me.

As for lotions, pretty much all the ingredients are bad for not only your skin, but your internal organs as well. Remember, your skin is an organ, just like your stomach, liver, thyroid, brain, kidneys and lungs. Your skin absorbs everything that you rub on it. That said, let's look at a few of the ingredients...

Phthalates: Phthalates (pronounced THAL-ates) are plasticizing and softening chemicals used in a wide array of consumer products. Phthalates are found in many personal care products, such as perfumes, nail polish, and lotions as well as our air, water, and soil due to industrial pollution and leaching from consumer products. In animal studies, phthalates cause an array of reproductive problems in male offspring, including small or otherwise abnormal testes, hypospadias (abnormal urinary openings), and undescended testes. In studies on people, boys born to mothers with greater exposure had altered genital development. Phthalates may also cause asthma as well as liver and kidney damage. Here are a few specific phthalates to look out for:
benzylbutyl phthalate
di-n-butyl phthalate
diethyl phthalate
dimethyl phthalate

Phthalates are often used in cosmetics and personal care products to carry fragrances. Under current law, they can then simply be labeled “fragrance,” even though they may make up 20% or more of the product.

As for petro and why petro-products are bad, filthy petroleum should be in cars - not our bodies. Remember, what you put on your skin is going to go into your body and affect other systems. If you wouldn't eat petro for food, you shouldn't feed it to your skin.

You can avoid the risks of petro chemicals by going natural. When you are ready to give up the risks, go to:

note: Petroleum jelly is the sludge that forms on the sides of the filthy dirlling pipes. They just bleach it and stick it in a jar - not only petro chemicals, but bleaching residues as well. Disgusting.

Talc is a carcinogen when inhaled. While I'm sure people aren't going around sniffin' talc, asbestos causes cancer just being in the same room with it - you don't even have to sprinkle that on your body...

1] always look for 'non- comedogenic' - doesn't clog pores, or cause zits
2] hypoallergenis or sensitive skin formula [ no perfumes, colors, or dyes ]
Petroleum jelly is actually great for dry skin - doesn't clog pores, and very moisturizing!
As for other ingredients, you must research EVERYTHING to find out if they have 'harmful' ingredients.
Some things have actually produced bad reactions, others seem to be a matter of opinion.
For instance, TALC. Can cause cancer if inhaled. I don't plan to inhale it, do you?
Alcohol - can make you dizzy etc. - yes, if you drink it or inhale it! Dries the skin - that is why people use it!
Alpha Hydroxy Acids - can make you more susceptible to skin cancer? if you use, this, wouldn't you also use sunscreen?
Look for SCIENTIFIC evidence - large [ over 1, 000 people ]
sample, and statistics to back it up.
